Overview

The AWEA HTP-7041 is the largest machine in the HTP series in every direction the series is offered: 7,000 mm (275.6 in) of X travel, 4,300 mm (169.3 in) between the columns, and 64,000 kg (141,093 lb) on the floor. The table is 7,020 x 3,000 mm (276.4 x 118.1 in).

It helps to see it against the two machines it borders. From the HTP-7033 it differs in column spacing, 4,300 mm against 3,500 mm (137.8 in), in weight, 64,000 kg against 61,000 kg (134,480 lb), and in a slower cross beam, with Y and Z rapids of 10 m/min (394 ipm) where the HTP-7033 has 12 m/min (472 ipm). From the HTP-6041 it differs by a metre of X, by 7.5 m/min (295 ipm) of X rapid in place of 10 m/min, and by a large step in mass from 53,000 kg (116,843 lb). Table load is 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) on all three.

So the choice is about envelope only. Nothing else improves at this size, and the payload per metre of table is the lowest in the range.

The working end is unchanged from the smaller models. A 4,000 rpm gear spindle with 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) and BBT50 (ISO 50) sits in a U-shaped saddle with 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Z travel. VDI figures are P ≤ 0.040 mm over full travel and Ps ≤ 0.030 mm, the same as printed for the HTP-7033 and tighter than those of the HTP-6041.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • The largest envelope of the series: 7,000 mm (275.6 in) of X under a 4,300 mm (169.3 in) column opening
  • 7,020 x 3,000 mm (276.4 x 118.1 in) table rated for 20,000 kg (44,092 lb)
  • VDI positioning of P ≤ 0.040 mm over full travel, tighter than the P ≤ 0.050 mm listed for the HTP-6041
  • Same 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) gear spindle and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) Z travel as the rest of the series
  • 1,300 liter coolant tank, against 1,050 liter on the HTP-7033

Limitations

  • 64,000 kg (141,093 lb), the heaviest HTP
  • X rapid traverse of 7.5 m/min (295 ipm) with Y and Z at 10 m/min (394 ipm), the slowest set in the series
  • Table load stays at 20,000 kg (44,092 lb), as on the HTP-6041
  • Y travel is shown only as "Opt.4,100 mm (4,800)"
  • Spindle power is no higher than on the HTP-4025 unless the 30 / 37 option is ordered
06

Best For

The largest single parts the HTP range can take, up to 7,000 mm long Wide and long fabrications such as machine frames and large tooling plates Two large setups on one table, machined alternately Heavy cutting where envelope matters more than traverse speed

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How big is the HTP-7041?

X travel is 7,000 mm (275.6 in), the columns are 4,300 mm (169.3 in) apart, Z travel is 1,000 mm (39.4 in) and the table is 7,020 x 3,000 mm (276.4 x 118.1 in). Machine weight is 64,000 kg (141,093 lb). Y travel is printed as "Opt.4,100 mm (4,800)".

02 Does the HTP-7041 carry more weight than the smaller HTP machines?

No. Its table is rated for 20,000 kg (44,092 lb), the same figure as the HTP-6025, HTP-6033, HTP-6041 and HTP-7033. The HTP-4041 carries 15,000 kg (33,069 lb) and the HTP-5041 18,000 kg (39,683 lb).

03 HTP-7041 or HTP-7033?

Choose on width. The HTP-7033 has 3,500 mm (137.8 in) between the columns, a stated Y travel of 3,300 mm (129.9 in), Y and Z rapids of 12 m/min (472 ipm) and a 1,050 liter coolant tank. The HTP-7041 has 4,300 mm (169.3 in) between the columns, 10 m/min (394 ipm) on Y and Z and 1,300 liter. Tables and accuracy rows are identical.

04 Can the spindle of the HTP-7041 be upgraded?

The specification table shows 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) with "Opt. 30 / 37" after it, and one speed, Gear Spindle 4,000 rpm. Milling heads are a separate matter: AWEA states that all of its milling heads are self developed and assembled, and offers an automatic head changer as an option.
