Overview

A 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) workpiece, 6,000 mm (236.2 in) long and too wide for the narrower LP bridges: that is the job the AWEA LP-6033 is sized for. It has 3,300 mm (129.9 in) of Y travel, 3,500 mm (137.8 in) between the columns and a 6,020 x 2,400 mm (237.0 x 94.5 in) table.

20,000 kg is where the LP table rating stops. The LP-5033 is rated for 18,000 kg (39,683 lb), this machine for 20,000 kg, and the LP-7033 for the same 20,000 kg on a table a metre longer. Machine weight keeps climbing regardless: 49,000 kg (108,025 lb) for the LP-5033, 57,000 kg (125,661 lb) here, 66,000 kg (145,503 lb) for the LP-7033. Foundation planning has to add the part to those figures.

The base carries that load on 4 guide ways in a one-piece casting that AWEA enlarges with the travel, so the table stays supported along its whole stroke. Drive comes from a ball screw in the centre of the X axis, fitted with a vibration absorber. X rapid traverse is 10,000 mm/min (394 ipm).

One detail of the accuracy table deserves attention. The LP-6033 is listed at P ≤ 0.050 mm positioning accuracy over full travel and Ps ≤ 0.035 mm repeatability under VDI. The longer LP-7033 is listed tighter, at P = 0.040 mm and Ps = 0.030 mm. If positioning over the full length decides the order, ask AWEA what feedback system each figure assumes.

The head is the series' BT50 unit with a 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) motor and 6,000 rpm as standard.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) table load, the highest rating in the LP series
  • 6,000 x 3,300 mm (236.2 x 129.9 in) of X and Y travel with 3,500 mm (137.8 in) between columns
  • One-piece base on 4 guide ways, enlarged in proportion to the travel
  • 57,000 kg (125,661 lb) machine weight, against 66,000 kg (145,503 lb) for the LP-7033 with the same table load
  • Optional Y travel of 4,000 mm

Limitations

  • VDI positioning accuracy of P ≤ 0.050 mm over full travel, wider than the P = 0.040 mm listed for the LP-7033
  • 57,000 kg (125,661 lb) machine weight before the workpiece is added
  • X rapid traverse of 10,000 mm/min (394 ipm) over a 6,000 mm (236.2 in) stroke
  • The table is 2,400 mm (94.5 in) wide although the Y travel is 3,300 mm (129.9 in)

Best For

Single heavy parts up to 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) Press frames, machine beds and large welded structures Wide work that needs 3,500 mm (137.8 in) between columns Long parts that do not need the extra X travel of the LP-7033

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How much can the LP-6033 table carry?

20,000 kg (44,092 lb) on a 6,020 x 2,400 mm (237.0 x 94.5 in) table. The LP-5033 is rated for 18,000 kg (39,683 lb); the LP-7033 and the LP-6025 match the LP-6033. AWEA supports the table on a one-piece base with 4 guide ways to avoid overhang at the ends of the travel.

02 Why is the LP-7033 listed with better accuracy than the LP-6033?

The table gives P ≤ 0.050 mm and Ps ≤ 0.035 mm (VDI) for the LP-6033, and P = 0.040 mm and Ps = 0.030 mm for the LP-7033. The LP-6033 page does not explain the difference, so it should be raised with AWEA before ordering if full-travel positioning is critical.

03 How heavy is the LP-6033 compared with the LP-6025?

The LP-6033 weighs 57,000 kg (125,661 lb); the LP-6025 weighs 50,000 kg (110,229 lb). Table size and table load are the same on both. The extra weight belongs to the wider bridge: 3,500 mm (137.8 in) between columns against 2,700 mm (106.3 in) on the LP-6025.

04 How is the X axis of the LP-6033 driven?

By a ball screw placed in the centre of the axis. AWEA calls this a wide span symmetrical center-driven design and says it avoids yawing and uneven guide way wear. A ball screw vibration absorber is fitted to reduce the vibration of the long screw. X and Y run on roller type linear guide ways.
