AWEA VP-4012HS — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the AWEA VP-4012HS that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from AWEA or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training

Overview

The AWEA VP-4012HS stretches the VP-HS bridge to 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of X travel while Y and Z stay at 1,200 mm (47.2 in) and 760 mm (29.9 in). Its 4,000 x 1,100 mm (157.5 x 43.3 in) table accepts 6,000 kg (13,228 lb), and the machine itself weighs 24,000 kg (52,910 lb).

A buyer should read the feed rows before anything else, because this is the size where the long table changes the machine's character. X rapid is 10 m/min (394 ipm). On the VP-3012HS it is 20 m/min (787 ipm). Cutting feed is capped at 10 m/min (394 ipm) too, where the VP-3012HS allows 12 m/min (472 ipm). Y and Z are untouched at 24 m/min (945 ipm) and 20 m/min (787 ipm), so moves across the table are quick and moves along it are not.

The tolerance rows loosen in step. VDI positioning becomes P ≤ 0.03 mm over full travel and repeatability Ps ≤ 0.02 mm. The JIS rows do not change with length: ± 0.010 mm and ± 0.003 mm.

What the spindle offers is the same as on every VP-HS: 10,000 rpm, direct-driven, BBT50, with 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp). In practice that makes the VP-4012HS a machine for long parts where the cutting itself is fast and light, and where time lost to slow X repositioning is small next to time in the cut. Aluminium plate, long mold inserts and frame members fit that description. Programs that hop between features at opposite ends of the table do not.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of X travel with a 10,000 rpm direct-driven spindle
  • 6,000 kg (13,228 lb) table capacity, up from 4,500 kg (9,921 lb) on the VP-3012HS
  • Y rapid of 24 m/min (945 ipm) is unaffected by the longer bed
  • JIS repeatability stays at ± 0.003 mm
  • Extension splash door, which AWEA says eases loading and unloading

Limitations

  • X rapid of 10 m/min (394 ipm) is half the VP-3012HS figure
  • Cutting feed limited to 10 m/min (394 ipm)
  • VDI positioning widens to P ≤ 0.03 mm over full travel
  • A 24,000 kg (52,910 lb) machine on a long bed needs careful foundation and levelling work

Best For

Long aluminium plate and frame members up to 4,000 mm (157.5 in) Extended mold inserts machined in long continuous passes Loads up to 6,000 kg (13,228 lb) on a 1,100 mm (43.3 in) wide table Jobs where cutting time outweighs repositioning time

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Why is the X rapid on the VP-4012HS only 10 m/min?

AWEA's table gives 10 m/min (394 ipm) for X on this model without stating a reason. The shorter VP-3012HS is listed at 20 m/min (787 ipm) and the longer VP-5012HS at 8 m/min (315 ipm), so the rate falls as the table and its load grow. Y and Z keep 24 m/min (945 ipm) and 20 m/min (787 ipm).

02 How does the VP-4012HS compare with the plain VP-4012?

Travels, table, 6,000 kg (13,228 lb) load, feed rates and 24,000 kg (52,910 lb) weight are identical in both tables. The VP-4012 has a gear spindle at 6,000 rpm with 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp). The VP-4012HS has a direct-driven spindle at 10,000 rpm with 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) and a BBT50 dual contact taper as standard.

03 Is 4,000 mm of travel matched by the table length?

Yes. The table is 4,000 x 1,100 mm (157.5 x 43.3 in) and X travel is 4,000 mm (157.5 in), so the spindle can reach both ends of the surface. Across the table, Y travel of 1,200 mm (47.2 in) exceeds the 1,100 mm (43.3 in) width.

04 What limits tool size on the VP-4012HS?

Tool weight is capped at 15 kg (33 lb) and length at 350 mm (13.8 in). Maximum diameter is given as Ø125 / Ø229 mm (Ø4.9 / Ø9.0 in). The standard magazine is 32 T, with 24 and 40 T offered. AWEA notes an optimized tool change function meant to shorten change time.
