AXA VPC 55 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the AXA VPC 55 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from AXA or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The largest of AXA's three-axis VPC gantries is the VPC 55. It combines the SK 50 spindle of the VPC 50 with the tall, wide portal of the VPC 45, giving 1,400 mm (55.1 in) of Y as standard and 800 mm (31.5 in) of Z. Each table carries 2,000 kg.

One oddity in the source deserves a mention. In AXA's data sheet the 800 mm Z figure of the VPC 55 carries the footnote mark for optional features, although no other value stands beside it. The VPC 45, which shares the portal, shows 800 mm without the mark. Confirm the Z travel of the base machine with AXA before ordering.

The spindle is drive no. 131: 286 Nm and 45 kW at 40% DC, 4,000 rpm, optionally up to 9,000 rpm. Drive no. 133 with 355 Nm and 56 kW is the alternative. With a real gantry drive in Y, where each side of the portal has its own drive and direct measuring system, the wide Y options of 1,600 mm, 1,800 mm and 2,200 mm do not depend on a single-sided drive.

X travel is 2,360 mm, 2,940 mm or 3,400 mm. The table is about as long as X and, depending on the Y stroke, from 1,100 mm to 2,200 mm wide. Twenty tools are standard and 90 optional, with a change in approx. 7 s. AXA mentions angular heads as the way to reach side faces on this vertical-spindle machine.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Where does the VPC 55 sit in the VPC range?

At the top of the three-axis models. The VPC 50 has the same SK 50 drives on the smaller portal with 1,200 mm of Y and 500 mm of Z. The VPC 45 has the same large portal with SK 40 drives. The VPC 55 has both the large portal and the SK 50 spindle.

02 What are the axis travels?

X is 2,360 mm, optionally 2,940 mm or 3,400 mm. Y is 1,400 mm, optionally 1,600 mm, 1,800 mm or 2,200 mm. Z is listed as 800 mm, a figure AXA's table marks with the optional-features footnote. The minimum distance from table to spindle nose is 230 mm.

03 Which spindle drives are available on the VPC 55?

Drive no. 131 is standard with 4,000 rpm, optionally up to 9,000 rpm, 286 Nm and 45 kW. Drive no. 133 is the option with 355 Nm and 56 kW. Both are rated at 40% DC. The 540 Nm drive no. 163 is footnoted as available only in combination with the VPC 50 power.

04 Can the VPC 55 be loaded by crane?

Yes. AXA describes the machine as ideal for crane loading thanks to the open covering over the work area, and mentions an optional complete covering with a device to extract oil mist fumes. The machine tables are described as spacious and easily accessible.
