How much does the Litz DM-1200A cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Litz DM-1200A that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Litz DM-1200A is the largest of the DM high-speed vertical machining centers. It combines 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of X travel, 600 mm (23.6 in) of Y and 675 mm (26.6 in) of Z with an 18,000 rpm BBT-40 spindle and a table rated for 1,000 kg (2,205 lb).
A one-tonne workpiece and 18,000 rpm rarely appear together on a small frame. Here the 1,220 x 620 mm (48.0 x 24.4 in) table takes a full-size mould base or a long aluminium plate, and the 15 / 18.5 kW (20.1 / 24.8 hp) spindle motor is the same rating fitted to the DM-800 and DM-1000. To move the heavier table Litz fits 3.5 kW motors on all three axes; the table lists 3.5 / 3.5 / 3.5 kW where the DM-1000 has 2.0 / 2.0 / 3.5 kW.
Even so, X and Y rapids are 30 m/min (1,181 ipm), with Z at 24 m/min (945 ipm). On large 3D surfaces rapid rate matters little, since the machine spends its time in feed, and cutting feed still reaches 20,000 mm/min.
Daylight under the spindle runs from 100 to 775 mm (3.9 to 30.5 in). The changer holds 24 tools up to 300 mm (11.8 in) long, though each is limited to 7 kg (15 lb). Plan for 8,500 kg (18,739 lb) on the floor, a 35 kVA supply and a 360 L coolant tank.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 18,000 rpm spindle on a machine with a 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) table load
- 1,200 x 600 x 675 mm travels and up to 775 mm (30.5 in) under the spindle nose
- 3.5 / 3.5 / 3.5 kW axis motors, larger in X and Y than those of the DM-1000
- Coolant through the ballscrews and linear scales are available as options
Limitations
- X and Y rapids of 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) are below the 36 m/min of the DM-1000
- Tools are limited to 7 kg (15 lb)
- 24-tool magazine is small for long mould programs with many cutters
- 35 kVA supply and 8,500 kg (18,739 lb) machine weight

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travels are 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in X, 600 mm (23.6 in) in Y and 675 mm (26.6 in) in Z. The table measures 1,220 x 620 mm (48.0 x 24.4 in), carries 1,000 kg (2,205 lb), and the spindle nose is 100 to 775 mm (3.9 to 30.5 in) above it.
02
The spindle runs to 18,000 rpm with a BBT-40 shank. Its motor is rated 15 / 18.5 kW (20.1 / 24.8 hp), continuous and 30 min. A spindle oil cooler and spindle head coolant cooling system are standard, and coolant through the spindle is optional.
03
Both have the same travels, table and 8,500 kg (18,739 lb) weight. The DV-1200A has a 10,000 rpm spindle with an 11 / 15 kW motor. The DM-1200A has 18,000 rpm and 15 / 18.5 kW, and its axis motors are 3.5 / 3.5 / 3.5 kW against 2.0 / 2.0 / 3.5 kW on the DV-1200A.
04
The Mitsubishi M80 is named in the specification table and marked standard. FANUC 0i-MF and Siemens 828D are listed as options. The choice affects programming and look-ahead behaviour on 3D surfaces, so settle it before ordering.
