Litz DM-800 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Litz DM-800 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Litz or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Litz DM-800 pairs an 18,000 rpm BBT-40 spindle with an 800 x 500 x 540 mm work envelope (31.5 x 19.7 x 21.3 in). It shares its frame dimensions with the DV-800, down to the 910 x 500 mm (35.8 x 19.7 in) table and the 5,300 kg (11,684 lb) machine weight. The spindle is what separates them.

Where the DV-800 has 10,000 rpm and a 7.5 / 11 kW motor, the DM-800 has 18,000 rpm and 15 / 18.5 kW (20.1 / 24.8 hp), continuous and 30 min rated. So the DM is not a lighter, faster-spinning variant. It has more speed and more motor at once, which lets it rough with a 40-taper cutter and then finish with a small ball mill in the same setup. That is the pattern of mould and die work and of aluminium structural parts.

Litz also lists coolant through the ballscrews on the three axes as an option for this model, alongside linear scales and roller type linear guideways. On long finishing programs, ballscrew heat is what moves a dimension over the day, so these are the options to price if tolerances are tight.

The table carries 500 kg (1,102 lb). Tools may be 270 mm (10.6 in) long and 8 kg (18 lb), 24 of them in an arm-type changer. Rapids are 36 / 36 / 24 m/min (1,417 / 1,417 / 945 ipm) and the supply requirement is 20 kVA.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 18,000 rpm spindle with a 15 / 18.5 kW (20.1 / 24.8 hp) motor on a BBT-40 shank
  • Same 800 x 500 x 540 mm envelope and 500 kg (1,102 lb) table load as the DV-800
  • Coolant through the ballscrews, linear scales and roller type linear guideways are available as options
  • Spindle oil cooler and spindle head coolant cooling system are standard

Limitations

  • Tool length limit of 270 mm (10.6 in) and tool weight limit of 8 kg (18 lb)
  • Coolant through the spindle is an option, not standard
  • Spindle nose stays at least 150 mm (5.9 in) above the table
  • Chip conveyor is optional; a chip auger and chip cart are standard

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What spindle does the Litz DM-800 have?

An 18,000 rpm spindle with a BBT-40 tool shank. The motor is rated 15 / 18.5 kW (20.1 / 24.8 hp), continuous and 30 min. Spindle oil cooler, spindle air seal system and spindle head coolant cooling system are standard; coolant through the spindle is an option.

02 How is the DM-800 different from the DV-800?

Travels, table, weight and rapids are the same in both tables. The DV-800 has a 10,000 rpm spindle with a 7.5 / 11 kW motor; the DM-800 has 18,000 rpm and 15 / 18.5 kW. The DM-800 also lists coolant through the ballscrews as an option.

03 What are the travels of the DM-800?

800 mm (31.5 in) in X, 500 mm (19.7 in) in Y and 540 mm (21.3 in) in Z, with 150 to 690 mm (5.9 to 27.2 in) between the spindle nose and the table. The table measures 910 x 500 mm (35.8 x 19.7 in).

04 What tool capacity does the DM-800 have?

The arm-type automatic tool changer holds 24 tools. Tools can be up to 270 mm (10.6 in) long and weigh up to 8 kg (18 lb). Maximum tool diameter is given as 80 / 125 mm (3.1 / 4.9 in).
