Huron VX 15 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Huron VX 15 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Huron or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

At 16,000 kg (35,274 lb), the Huron VX 15 weighs nearly twice as much as the VX 13 below it, and that mass is the best summary of what changes at this size. Travels are 1,510 x 810 x 810 mm (59.4 x 31.9 x 31.9 in). The table is 1,700 x 810 mm and takes 2,000 kg (4,409 lb).

This is the point in the VX range where the machine becomes a platform for die blocks and large plates. The VX 13 is rated for 1,200 kg and has 700 mm of Y, so the VX 15 takes workpieces that are both heavier and wider. Huron's description of the frame is the same as for the smaller machines, a C-frame in ribbed cast iron with a reinforced column, but there is far more of it here.

The tool limits shift slightly. Maximum tool diameter is 76 mm, where the VX 13 allows 80 mm. Tool length rises to 300 mm, a better match for the 810 mm Z stroke. Weight per tool stays at 7 kg and the changer keeps 40 housings.

Nothing changes at the spindle nose: ISO 40, 10,000 rpm, 14.3 kW and 68 Nm, with rapids of 20 m/min. Buyers should be clear that the VX 15 offers capacity and stiffness for accurate work on big parts, not a heavier cut. Floor space is 6,467 x 4,600 mm and height 4,000 mm.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) table load on a 1,700 x 810 mm table
  • 16,000 kg (35,274 lb) machine weight for damping on large workpieces
  • 810 mm of travel in both Y and Z
  • Tool length limit of 300 mm, against 250 mm on the VX 13

Limitations

  • Still 14.3 kW and 68 Nm at the spindle, the same as the 6,000 kg VX 8
  • Maximum tool diameter is 76 mm, slightly below the 80 mm of the VX 13
  • Needs 6,467 x 4,600 mm of floor and 4,000 mm of height
  • 20 m/min rapids over a 1,510 mm X axis lengthen non-cutting moves

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What can the Huron VX 15 hold on its table?

The table is 1,700 x 810 mm (66.9 x 31.9 in) and Huron rates it for 2,000 kg (4,409 lb). X, Y and Z travels are 1,510, 810 and 810 mm, so the table is longer than the X stroke.

02 How is the VX 15 different from the VX 18?

The VX 18 has 1,810 mm of X travel on a 2,000 x 810 mm table rated 2,500 kg. Y, Z, spindle, tool changer and tool limits match the VX 15. The VX 18 weighs 16,500 kg against 16,000 kg here.

03 Does the VX 15 have a stronger spindle than the smaller VX models?

No. Huron's table gives the same ISO 40 spindle across the range: 10,000 rpm, 14.3 kW, 68 Nm and a characteristic speed of 2,000 rpm. The VX 15 is the choice for larger and heavier parts, not for higher metal removal rates.

04 What tools does the VX 15 accept?

The 40-housing changer takes tools up to 76 mm in diameter, 300 mm long and 7 kg (15 lb). The 300 mm length limit is specific to the VX 15 and VX 18; the VX 13 stops at 250 mm.
