Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Huron Tachyon 7 R that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Huron Tachyon 7 R is the long-X Rotopallet model, with 750 mm (29.5 in) of X travel over twin tables of 800 x 400 mm. No fixed-table Tachyon in Huron's current list goes this long in X: the widest working length in the family comes only with the pallet divider.
Each table carries 300 kg (661 lb). With 800 mm of length per side, a fixture can hold a row of parts or one long extrusion, and the opposite table is free for loading while the first is cut. Y and Z travels are 400 mm and 450 mm, the same as on every Tachyon, so the gain is purely in length.
The machine is a vertical drilling-tapping centre in Huron's terms, with a fixed bed and the three linear axes carried on the tool side. Rapids are 60 m/min. The BBT 30 spindle reaches 24,000 rpm, and Huron rates it at 20 kW and 21 Nm with Siemens drives or 6 kW and 7.3 Nm with Fanuc.
Size and weight rise only a little over the Tachyon 5 R. Width is 2,330 mm, depth 4,357 mm, height 2,620 mm and weight 4,800 kg (10,582 lb). Stated accuracy is unchanged at 0.006 mm positioning and 0.004 mm repeatability, and the magazine has 24 housings.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 750 mm (29.5 in) of X travel, the longest in the Tachyon family
- Two 800 x 400 mm tables rated at 300 kg (661 lb) each
- Pallet rotation lets loading overlap machining
- Same 4,357 mm depth as the Tachyon 5 R despite the longer tables
- 60 m/min rapids on a 750 mm axis
Limitations
- Y travel stays at 400 mm, as on every Tachyon
- 30-taper spindle with at most 21 Nm of torque
- Maximum tool length is 200 mm and maximum tool weight 3 kg
- Not offered with a single fixed table at this X length

Frequently Asked Questions
01
There are two tables, each 800 x 400 mm (31.5 x 15.7 in), mounted on the rotating divider. Each is rated for 300 kg (661 lb). Travels are 750 mm in X, 400 mm in Y and 450 mm in Z.
02
The Tachyon 5 R has 550 mm of X, tables of 600 x 400 mm and 250 kg per table. The Tachyon 7 R has 750 mm, 800 x 400 mm and 300 kg. The Tachyon 5 R is 2,210 mm wide and weighs 4,500 kg, slightly less than the Tachyon 7 R.
03
Rapid feedrate is 60 m/min on X, Y and Z, and the spindle runs to 24,000 rpm. Huron also describes the pallet rotation as rapid, though the table gives no changeover time.
04
With the Siemens package, 20 kW and 21 Nm with a characteristic speed of 9,000 rpm. With the Fanuc package, 6 kW and 7.3 Nm with a characteristic speed of 8,000 rpm. The taper is BBT 30.
