Huron VX 11 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Huron VX 11 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Huron or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

With 1,020 x 600 x 610 mm (40.2 x 23.6 x 24.0 in) of travel, the Huron VX 11 sits in the size class most tool and die shops buy first. Its table is 1,200 x 630 mm and rated for 1,200 kg (2,646 lb), which is the big step from the VX 8 and its 500 kg limit.

The machine itself is 8,300 kg (18,298 lb). Huron builds the VX as a C-frame in ribbed cast iron, with what it calls a broad-based architecture and a reinforced column to withstand cutting forces and absorb vibration. Ballscrews are calibrated, pre-stressed and coupled directly to the motors.

Cutting hardware is common to the range. The ISO 40 spindle turns at up to 10,000 rpm with 14.3 kW and 68 Nm, the characteristic speed is 2,000 rpm, and the changer holds 40 tools of up to 80 mm diameter and 250 mm length. So the VX 11 is a larger, stiffer platform under the same spindle, not a more powerful machine.

It is also the shallowest VX to install. Overall depth with doors opened and conveyor is 2,750 mm against a width of 5,070 mm, which points to a conveyor that discharges to the side. Height is 3,200 mm. Rapids are 24 m/min on all three axes.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,200 kg (2,646 lb) table load on a 1,200 x 630 mm table
  • Only 2,750 mm deep with doors open and conveyor, the shallowest machine in the VX range
  • 8,300 kg (18,298 lb) of ribbed cast iron under a 1,020 mm X travel
  • Calibrated, pre-stressed ballscrews with direct motor coupling, per Huron's feature list
  • 24 m/min rapids, which the larger VX 13 does not match at 20 m/min

Limitations

  • Spindle is the same 14.3 kW, 68 Nm unit as the smaller VX 8
  • Y travel is 600 mm; parts that need more have to move to the VX 13 at 700 mm
  • Needs 5,070 mm of width once the conveyor is in place
  • Tool diameter is capped at 80 mm

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How does the VX 11 differ from the VX 12?

The VX 12 has 1,220 mm of X travel and a 1,400 x 630 mm table, where the VX 11 has 1,020 mm and 1,200 x 630 mm. Y and Z, the 1,200 kg table load, the spindle and the 40-tool changer are the same. The VX 12 is also deeper to install, 3,610 mm against 2,750 mm.

02 What load can the VX 11 table take?

Huron rates the 1,200 x 630 mm table at 1,200 kg (2,646 lb). That figure covers the workpiece plus vises, fixtures and any rotary table, so weigh the whole setup when planning heavy die blocks.

03 What are the spindle figures for the Huron VX 11?

Maximum speed is 10,000 rpm on an ISO 40 taper. Power is 14.3 kW and torque 68 Nm, with a characteristic speed of 2,000 rpm. Huron's page for the VX 11 lists this one spindle and no higher-speed or higher-torque alternative.

04 What accuracy does Huron state for the VX 11?

Positioning is 0.010 mm and repeatability 0.003 mm on X, Y and Z. Those are the same values Huron gives for the other VX models, so accuracy is not a reason to pick one size over another.
