Quaser MV1 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Quaser MV1 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Quaser or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Quaser MV1 is the smallest vertical machining center in the MV range, a 40 taper machine with 661 mm (26") of X travel, 572 mm (22.5") of Y and 560 mm (22.0") of Z. Quaser describes it as built for high efficiency in a compact floor space, and the proportions bear that out: Y and Z are nearly as long as X, which is unusual on a machine this short.

The table measures 940 x 550 mm (37.0" x 21.7") and carries 500 kg (1,102 lbs). That is the same load rating as the MV3, which has a 1,200 x 600 mm (47.2" x 23.6") table and 1,020 mm (40.2") of X travel. So the MV1 gives up length, not carrying capacity. A pair of vises or a small fourth-axis fixture fits; long bar-type parts don't.

Quaser lists the maximum spindle speed as 12K ~ 24K. That is a range, not a single figure, so the spindle is something you choose when ordering. The page gives no power or torque for any of the choices. High precision linear guideways are used in all three axes.

The magazine holds 30 tools as standard. With every pocket full a tool can be 76.2 mm (3") in diameter. Leave the neighboring pots empty and that rises to 150 mm (5.9"), with a maximum tool length of 300 mm (11.8"). Both limits are larger than the MV3's 125 mm (4.9") and 280 mm (11.0"), so the shortest machine in the family takes the bigger face mill and the longer drill.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Y travel of 572 mm (22.5") and Z travel of 560 mm (22.0") on a machine with only 661 mm (26") of X
  • Table load of 500 kg (1,102 lbs), the same rating as the longer MV3
  • Takes tools up to 150 mm (5.9") in diameter with the neighboring pots empty, and up to 300 mm (11.8") long
  • Maximum spindle speed is listed as 12K ~ 24K, so there is a choice of spindle for small-tool work
  • High precision linear guideways in all three axes, as Quaser describes the machine

Limitations

  • X travel stops at 661 mm (26"); the MV3 offers 1,020 mm (40.2") for longer parts
  • Quaser's page lists no spindle power or torque, so cutting capacity has to be confirmed from a quotation
  • With the 30-tool magazine full, tool diameter is limited to 76.2 mm (3")
  • The published table gives no rapid traverse rate, machine weight or control

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the axis travels of the Quaser MV1?

X travel is 661 mm (26"), Y is 572 mm (22.5") and Z is 560 mm (22.0"). The table is 940 x 550 mm (37.0" x 21.7"), so it overhangs the X travel on both sides and a fixture can sit wider than the spindle can reach.

02 How much weight can the MV1 table carry?

Quaser lists a table load capacity of 500 kg (1,102 lbs). Add up the vises or fixture plate, any rotary table and the part itself before committing a heavy job, because that figure covers everything on the table.

03 What spindle does the MV1 have?

A 40 taper spindle. Quaser gives the maximum spindle speed as 12K ~ 24K, which is a range of spindle choices and not one rating. No power or torque figure is published on the product page, so ask for the spindle chart of the version being quoted.

04 How large a tool can the MV1 magazine take?

The magazine has 30 positions as standard. Maximum tool diameter is 76.2 mm (3") with adjacent pots occupied and 150 mm (5.9") when the neighboring pots are empty. Maximum tool length is 300 mm (11.8").

05 How does the MV1 differ from the MV3?

Mainly in X. The MV1 has 661 mm (26") of X travel and a 940 x 550 mm (37.0" x 21.7") table; the MV3 has 1,020 mm (40.2") of X and a 1,200 x 600 mm (47.2" x 23.6") table. Both are rated for 500 kg (1,102 lbs) on the table and both carry 30 tools as standard.
