Fidia ARIAL 40 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Fidia ARIAL 40 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Fidia or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Fidia ARIAL 40 is the shortest of Fidia's moving-beam ARIAL gantries, with 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of X, 1,800 mm (70.9 in) of Y and 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of Z. It is a 5-axis high-speed machine for composites, resins, plastics, aluminium, light alloys and wood.

Moving from the compact ARIAL 3 to this design brings a stronger spindle: 22/25 kW (29.5/33.5 hp), S1/S6, against 15/18 kW (20.1/24.1 hp), S1/S6. Speed is unchanged at 24,000 rpm on HSK-A63. In aluminium the extra power lets the machine run larger cutters, though with no torque figure listed the limit has to be checked with Fidia.

Axis speeds are 80 m/min in X and Y and 60 m/min in Z. The head has limits of ±120° on B and ±360° on C, with direct encoders and axis brakes. Fidia points to a front beam structure with minimized overhang and to doors carried on an independent structure, so the door weight does not load the main crossbar.

Two options change how the machine is run: pendular mode, in which the X travel is divided into two work areas, and a twin shuttle. The tool magazine has 8 or 16 positions. The ARIAL 50 and ARIAL 60 are the same machine with 5,000 mm (196.9 in) and 6,000 mm (236.2 in) of X; the ARIAL 40L widens Y to 2,600 mm (102.4 in).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 22/25 kW (29.5/33.5 hp), S1/S6 spindle at 24,000 rpm
  • Pendular mode and twin shuttle are available as options
  • Doors on an independent structure, so their weight does not influence the main crossbar
  • 80 m/min in X and Y, 60 m/min in Z
  • Direct encoders and axis brakes on the 5-axis head

Limitations

  • The tool magazine is limited to 8 or 16 positions
  • Y travel of 1,800 mm (70.9 in); the ARIAL 40L offers 2,600 mm (102.4 in)
  • Z travel is 1,200 mm (47.2 in), less than the 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of the ARIAL 3

Best For

Aluminium and light alloy parts up to 4,000 mm (157.5 in) long Pendular machining of two smaller workpieces Composite trimming with easy front access

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the travels of the Fidia ARIAL 40?

Travels are 4,000 mm (157.5 in) in X, 1,800 mm (70.9 in) in Y and 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in Z. The 5-axis head has B-axis limits of ±120° and C-axis limits of ±360°.

02 How powerful is the ARIAL 40 spindle?

The electrospindle is rated 22/25 kW (29.5/33.5 hp), S1/S6, with a maximum speed of 24,000 rpm and an HSK-A63 tool holder. The head has direct encoders and axis brakes. Fidia does not list spindle torque.

03 What is pendular mode on the ARIAL 40?

It is an option that splits the X travel into two work areas, so one can be loaded while the other is being machined. Fidia lists it together with a twin shuttle option. Ask Fidia for the usable length of each area.

04 Which ARIAL models are larger than the ARIAL 40?

The ARIAL 50 has 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of X and the ARIAL 60 has 6,000 mm (236.2 in), with the same Y and Z. The ARIAL 40L, ARIAL 50L and ARIAL 60L keep those X travels and extend Y to 2,600 mm (102.4 in).
