How much does the Fidia ARIAL 3 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fidia ARIAL 3 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fidia ARIAL 3 is the smallest machine in the ARIAL range of 5-axis high-speed gantry milling centres for composites, resins, plastics, aluminium and light alloys. Axis travels are 2,900 mm (114.2 in) in X, 1,740 mm (68.5 in) in Y and 1,300 mm (51.2 in) in Z.
The Z figure deserves attention. 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of vertical travel on a machine this compact is there for deep shells, tall patterns and moulds worked from above with a 5-axis head, where the head itself uses part of the stroke when it tilts. The head has limits of ±120° on B and ±360° on C.
Cutting power is modest and speed is high: the spindle is rated 15/18 kW (20.1/24.1 hp), S1/S6, at 24,000 rpm on HSK-A63, and the axes reach 80 m/min in X and Y and 60 m/min in Z. That is the profile of a machine for trimming, pattern making and light-alloy work, not for steel. The tool magazine is offered with 8, 16 or 24 positions.
Fidia builds the ARIAL 3 on a monolithic structure, which it credits with absorbing vibration and with a fast installation time, and fits wide doors with no central pillar for loading by hand or by automation. The ARIAL 4 has the same X and Z with 4,300 mm (169.3 in) of Y.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of Z travel on a compact gantry
- Axis speeds of 80 m/min in X and Y and 60 m/min in Z
- 24,000 rpm HSK-A63 spindle in a 5-axis head with ±120° on B and ±360° on C
- Pillarless doors give unrestricted access for manual or automated loading
- Tool magazine options of 8, 16 or 24 positions
Limitations
- Spindle power is 15/18 kW (20.1/24.1 hp), S1/S6, lower than the 22/25 kW (29.5/33.5 hp), S1/S6 of the ARIAL 40
- Y travel is 1,740 mm (68.5 in); wider parts need the ARIAL 4 with 4,300 mm (169.3 in)
- Built for composites, plastics and light alloys, with no torque figure or table load given

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X is 2,900 mm (114.2 in), Y is 1,740 mm (68.5 in) and Z is 1,300 mm (51.2 in). The 5-axis milling head adds a B axis with limits of ±120° and a C axis with limits of ±360°.
02
Fidia describes the compact ARIAL machines as built for high-speed processing of composites, resins, plastics, aluminium and light alloys, and names wood for the range as a whole. The spindle rating of 15/18 kW (20.1/24.1 hp), S1/S6, at 24,000 rpm matches that kind of material.
03
Maximum axis speed is 80 m/min in X and Y and 60 m/min in Z, with a spindle speed of 24,000 rpm. Fidia says the monolithic structure absorbs vibration at the source, which is what keeps surface quality consistent at high feed rates.
04
The tool magazine is listed as an option with 8, 16 or 24 positions, and Fidia calls it a flexible tool magazine. The tool holder is HSK-A63. Maximum tool dimensions are not given.
