Overview
For 5-axis jig grinding and milling of small parts, Röders offers the RPT450DS: a machining range of 370 mm x 490 mm x 280 mm (14.6 x 19.3 x 11.0 in), a 250 mm (9.8 in) round table and a workpiece limit of 30 kg (66 lb).
Röders says a powerful chuck for vibration-free machining is integrated for 5-axis work. The clamping units listed are Erowa ITS148 PowerChuck, System 3R Magnum and Parotec Power Grip 160, all pallet systems for small workpieces, so the machine is set up to take parts that arrive already clamped and measured. Swivelling range is +/- 115 degrees and rotation is almost unlimited. The distance from spindle nose to table is 335 mm (13.2 in).
On the 5-axis RPT machines the torque motors and axis bearings have improved temperature control, the C-axis is supported on two sides, and all axes carry high-resolution optical encoders. Any auxiliary equipment, such as for grinding, is mounted at the A-axis, where it travels with the workpiece.
