Fidia Linea C4 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Fidia Linea C4 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Fidia or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Fidia Linea C4 is the mid-length composites gantry in Fidia's Linea range, with 4,500 mm (177 in) of X travel, 3,000 mm (118 in) of Y and 1,200 mm (47 in) of Z. It machines CFRP, honeycomb, multi-layer composites and ceramic matrix composites in 5 continuous axes.

Holding the part is half the job with composites, and the Linea C is offered with three kinds of table: a vacuum table, a standard table with T-slots, or Fidia's Flexible Clamping System, a modular vacuum system intended for rapid retooling. At 4,500 mm (177 in) the working area takes sizeable skins and panels, or two smaller fixtures.

The upper gantry is welded steel, thermally stress-relieved, with roller guides and linear motors on X and Y and a Z axis on double recirculating ball screws. Axis speeds are 60 m/min in X and Y and 30 m/min in Z, and the brochure gives an axis acceleration of 4 m/s². An active thermal compensation system circulates temperature-controlled fluid.

Heads are the M5A (cast iron body) or the M5C (aluminum body). Spindles run at 20,000 1/min or 24,000 1/min on HSK63A with 30 kW or 35 kW, and a 55 kW spindle is listed only for M5A. Dust is collected at the tool and across the chamber, with ATEX Zone 22 filtration. The Linea C3 is the 2,200 mm (86 in) version; the Linea C6 reaches 6,200 mm (244 in).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Three table options: vacuum table, T-slot table or the Flexible Clamping System
  • 4,500 mm (177 in) of X and 3,000 mm (118 in) of Y for large panels
  • Active thermal compensation through temperature-controlled fluid
  • Axis acceleration of 4 m/s² with linear motors on X and Y
  • Programmable suction hood (DRP/M5-R2) positioned by the CNC

Limitations

  • Z travel is 1,200 mm (47 in), a little less than the 1,250 mm (49 in) of the Linea S4
  • Z runs at 30 m/min on ball screws, while X and Y use linear motors at 60 m/min
  • No table load is stated for any of the table options
  • HSK63A is the only tool interface listed

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What table options does the Fidia Linea C4 offer?

Fidia lists three: a vacuum table, a standard table with T-slots and the Flexible Clamping System, which it describes as a modular solution with vacuum technology designed for rapid retooling. Choose according to how the parts are fixtured today.

02 How is the Linea C4 driven?

X and Y slide on roller guides with direct linear motor drives. Z is driven by double recirculating ball screws and synchronous brushless motors. Axis speeds are 60/60/30 m/min and the brochure states an axis acceleration of 4 m/s².

03 What is the difference between the M5A and M5C heads on the Linea C4?

The body. M5A heads have a cast iron body and M5C heads an aluminum body. Both are continuous 5-axis heads that take the 30 kW and 35 kW HSK63A spindles at 20,000 1/min or 24,000 1/min; the 55 kW spindles are listed only for M5A.

04 How many tools does the Linea C4 carry?

The automatic tool changer has a 24 or 42-position magazine with an automatic protective door and an external opening for loading and unloading tools. The TMS laser tool measurement system is positioned inside the magazine.
