Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA MCP-18060 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Eighteen metres of bed moving at a walking pace: the AWEA MCP-18060 pairs 18,000 mm (708.7 in) of X travel with a rapid traverse of 10 / 10 / 10 m/min (394 / 394 / 394 ipm). Y travel is 6,400 mm (252.0 in) and the table is 18,000 x 4,800 mm (708.7 x 189.0 in).
At that rate, end-to-end repositioning is slow by the standard of smaller machines, and programming should keep it rare. Group operations by zone. Finish everything in one stretch of the table before the columns move on. The cutting feed rate tops out at the same value as the rapid, 1 ~ 10 m/min (39 ~ 394 ipm), so long finishing passes in aluminium are not held far below positioning speed.
Tool changes do not add travel. AWEA mounts the magazine on the column, so the 40T store (60T optional) is always beside the spindle. For a table this long that is the feature which protects cycle time.
Length also opens a second way of working. With the table fixed and the columns travelling, one end can be machined while the other is being set up, provided the shop's safety arrangements allow it; the specification does not describe a partition or a pendulum mode, so ask. Several medium parts in a row are as valid a load as one long spar.
In the 6,400 mm group only the MCP-20060 is longer, at 20,000 mm (787.4 in). The MCP-16060 is the step down at 16,000 mm (629.9 in). All use the BBT50 spindle with 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) and 1,400 mm (55.1 in) of Z.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 18,000 mm (708.7 in) of X travel over an 18,000 x 4,800 mm (708.7 x 189.0 in) fixed table
- Cutting feed up to 10 m/min (394 ipm), equal to the rapid rate
- Column-mounted 40T magazine removes X travel from every tool change
- Y and Z rapids of 10 m/min (394 ipm); the MCP-18050 lists Y at 7.5 m/min (295 ipm)
- Fixed table long enough to hold several parts in line
Limitations
- X rapid of 10 m/min (394 ipm) makes full-length repositioning slow on an 18,000 mm stroke
- The table gives no acceleration, accuracy or repeatability figure for the X axis
- Maximum tool weight of 20 kg (44 lb) limits large boring and facing tools
- No table load or machine weight is listed

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Rapid feed rate is 10 / 10 / 10 m/min (394 / 394 / 394 ipm) for X, Y and Z. Cutting feed rate is 1 ~ 10 m/min (39 ~ 394 ipm). The figures are identical on every length of the 6,400 mm group, so the 18,000 mm (708.7 in) machine is no slower per metre than the MCP-8060; it simply has further to go.
02
No. AWEA states that the tool magazine is attached to the column, which eliminates the need to move the X-axis for tool changes. The magazine holds 40T as standard, 60T as an option, with tools up to 400 mm (15.7 in) long and 20 kg (44 lb).
03
The table is 18,000 x 4,800 mm (708.7 x 189.0 in) and does not move, so there is room for more than one fixture along its length. Whether an operator may work at one end while the columns cut at the other is a safety and enclosure question that the specification table does not address. Raise it with AWEA before planning a process around it.
