AWEA MCP-16060 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the AWEA MCP-16060 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from AWEA or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Planning the building comes first with the AWEA MCP-16060. This moving column multi-face machining center has a 16,000 x 4,800 mm (629.9 x 189.0 in) table, 16,000 mm (629.9 in) of X travel and a bridge spanning 6,400 mm (252.0 in) of Y, and its service figures deserve a look before its cutting figures.

Start with coolant: 5,400 liter. That is the tank size of every 6,400 mm model, and it is larger than the 4,000 liter of the MCP-16050 or the 3,400 liter of the MCP-16040, so the pit or floor tank has to be sized for the wide group. The hydraulic tank is 100 liter and the lubrication oil tank 6 liter.

Electrical demand is listed as 220 ± 10 % Vac / 80 kVA. The same line appears on the shortest machine of the group, the MCP-8060, so the longer bed adds nothing to the supply. Compressed air is given as 5 ~ 8 (5) kg/cm².

What the table leaves out is as relevant to a foundation plan. There is no machine weight, no table load and no floor dimension. The foundation drawing therefore has to come from AWEA. One figure helps with crane access: the columns are 5,700 mm apart, or 5,500 mm with the X-axis covers, and the maker describes low side structures and a very low profile for loading.

The cutting end is common to the group. A BBT50 spindle with a 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) motor, 1,400 mm (55.1 in) of Z, a 40T magazine and feed rates of 1 ~ 10 m/min (39 ~ 394 ipm).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Power requirement of 220 ± 10 % Vac / 80 kVA, the same as the MCP-8060 despite the 16,000 mm (629.9 in) bed
  • 5,400 liter coolant tank for long unattended cuts
  • 16,000 x 4,800 mm (629.9 x 189.0 in) table that stays stationary under the moving columns
  • Low side structures and a very low profile for crane loading, per the maker
  • Air requirement of 5 ~ 8 (5) kg/cm², within ordinary shop air

Limitations

  • Machine weight and floor dimensions are not in the table, so foundation planning waits on the maker
  • No table load figure published
  • A 5,400 liter coolant system has to be filled, filtered and maintained
  • Supply is listed at 220 Vac only; other voltages need a transformer

Best For

Long structural parts up to 16,000 mm (629.9 in) Plants with crane access over a low-profile machine Wet machining of large steel weldments Several smaller parts set up along one table

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What electrical supply does the MCP-16060 need?

The table lists 220 ± 10 % Vac / 80 kVA. That is the only supply line given. The spindle motor accounts for 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) of it. The same requirement is listed for every length in the group, from the MCP-8060 to the MCP-20060.

02 How large are the coolant, hydraulic and lubrication tanks?

Coolant tank capacity is 5,400 liter, hydraulic tank capacity 100 liter and lubrication oil tank capacity 6 liter. The coolant figure is tied to the width of the machine: the MCP-16050 lists 4,000 liter and the MCP-16040 lists 3,400 liter with the same hydraulic and lubrication tanks.

03 What air pressure is required?

AWEA prints the pneumatic pressure requirement as 5 ~ 8 (5) kg/cm². The table does not give an air flow figure, so the compressor capacity needed for the head changer and tool changer has to be asked for separately.

04 Does the table give the weight of the MCP-16060?

It does not. Neither machine weight nor maximum table load appears in the specification for this model. Because the 16,000 x 4,800 mm (629.9 x 189.0 in) table is fixed and the columns travel beside it, the foundation carries both a static table and moving column loads, and the maker's foundation drawing is the document to work from.

05 How is a workpiece loaded onto the table?

From above or from the side. AWEA describes a big, open machining area with low side structures that makes loading and unloading of large work pieces more convenient and safe. The distance between columns is 5,700 mm, or 5,500 mm with the X-axis covers.
