Overview
The AWEA LG-8040 is a gantry type 5-face machining center with 8,000 mm (315.0 in) of X, 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of Y and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Z. Its fixed table is 8,000 x 3,800 mm (315.0 x 149.6 in) and carries 2,500 kg/m².
A table that size holds a great deal of work, and long cycles on it run into the magazine before anything else. Standard capacity is 32 tools, with 60 as the option. Each tool can be up to 350 mm (13.8 in) long from the gauge line and 20 kg (44 lb). Diameter is limited to Ø127 mm (Ø5.0 in), or 215 mm (8.5 in) when the adjacent pockets are empty. The magazine is a floor type unit on the back of the machine. With tools capped at 350 mm, deep side features are a job for an extension head, not for long tooling.
Plan the services early. The machine needs 80 kVA and compressed air at 5 ~ 8 kg/cm². The hydraulic unit holds 120 liter, the lubrication tank 6 liter, and the coolant tank, which stands apart from the machine, 1,600 liter. The LG-8030 uses a 1,300 liter tank and the LG-8050 a 1,900 liter one, so coolant volume grows with width while all three need the same 80 kVA.
Motion figures are 20 m/min (787 ipm) in X on a rack and pinion drive, 15 m/min (591 ipm) in Y and 10 m/min (394 ipm) in Z. Under VDI, X positioning is P = 0.040 mm with Ps = 0.030 mm repeatability; Y and Z are P = 0.030 mm over full travel and Ps = 0.025 mm.

It depends on how many different parts share the table. One large workpiece often needs fewer than 32 tools. Several different parts fixtured together can exceed that, which is the case for the 60-tool option listed for this model. The LG-8030 table shows 32 only.

The LG-8050 has 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of Y and an 8,000 x 4,800 mm (315.0 x 189.0 in) table, with a 1,900 liter coolant tank. Y rapid on the LG-8050 is 12 m/min (472 ipm) and its Y and Z positioning P = 0.040 mm. The LG-8040 is narrower but faster and tighter across the gantry: 15 m/min (591 ipm) and P = 0.030 mm.
