Overview

With 1,270 mm (50 in) of X travel and a table that takes 1,500 kg (3,307 lb), the YCM NXV1270A is where the NXV range moves from light production machines to a heavier frame. Y travel is 660 mm (26 in), Z is 620 mm (24.41 in), and the table measures 1,350 x 660 mm (53.15 x 26 in) with six 18 mm T-slots.

The load rating comes from the guideway layout. YCM puts roller linear guideways on all three axes, six blocks on the X axis and four guideways under the saddle on Y, on a wide base with 10 leveling pads. The saddle is a dual-wall casting. Three times the table load of the NXV1020A, which is rated at 500 kg (1,102 lb), is the practical result.

It still moves quickly for its size: 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) in X and Y, 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) in Z. The BBT40 IDD spindle runs at 12,000 rpm, or 15,000 rpm as an option, with 18.5 kW (25 HP). That is a 40-taper spindle on a table built for heavy parts, so the machine suits large workpieces cut with moderate tools better than deep roughing with big cutters.

Chips are handled by five augers, four along Y and one along X; a four-auger layout is the listed alternative. The magazine holds 24 tools, with 30, 48 or 60 optional, and changes in 1.8 sec tool-to-tool. Machine weight is 8,600 kg (18,960 lb).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Table load of 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) on a 1,350 x 660 mm (53.15 x 26 in) table
  • Roller linear guideways on 3 axes, with 6 blocks on X and 4 guideways on Y
  • Y travel of 660 mm (26 in) matches the full table depth
  • Magazine options up to 60 tools
  • Penta chip augers, 4 along Y and 1 along X, clear chips from a large work area

Limitations

  • Spindle power stays at 18.5 kW (25 HP) with a BBT40 taper; no larger spindle is listed for this model
  • YCM's table gives no clean figure for spindle nose to table distance on this model
  • At 8,600 kg (18,960 lb) it needs a proper floor and rigging plan
  • Tools are limited to 6 kg (13 lb) each

Best For

Plates, fixtures and mold bases up to 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) Parts that need 660 mm (26 in) of Y travel on a C-frame machine Long jobs with many tools, using the 48 or 60-tool magazine

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How much weight can the NXV1270A table carry?

The table is rated for 1,500 kg (3,307 lb). YCM states that the 6-block design on the X axis supports workpieces up to that weight. The table is 1,350 x 660 mm (53.15 x 26 in) with T-slots listed as 6 x 18 x 100 mm.

02 What are the travels and rapids?

Travels are 1,270 mm (50 in) in X, 660 mm (26 in) in Y and 620 mm (24.41 in) in Z. Rapid traverse is 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) in X and Y and 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) in Z, with cutting feed up to 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm).

03 Can the NXV1270A be ordered with a more powerful spindle?

The table lists one power rating, 18.5 kW (25 HP), for the standard 12,000 rpm spindle and the optional 15,000 rpm spindle. The NXV1380A, the next size up, is the first in the range to list a 37 kW (50 HP) option.

04 How are chips removed from the machine?

YCM fits penta chip augers, 4 running along Y and 1 along X, and lists quad chip augers with a chip conveyor as the alternative. A coolant shower is standard on the NXV series and the side window opens for chip removal.
