Price estimate
We do not have a price for the YCM NXV1020A that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The YCM NXV1020A is the one-metre machine of the NXV range: a BBT40 vertical machining center with 1,020 mm (40.16 in) of X travel, 520 mm (20.47 in) of Y and 540 mm (21.26 in) of Z. The table is 1,120 x 520 mm (44 x 20.47 in) with five 18 mm T-slots and takes 500 kg (1,102 lb).
This is the fast version of the frame. X and Y rapid at 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) and Z at 32 m/min (1,260 ipm). The NXV1020AM, which shares the travels, table and 5,350 kg (11,795 lb) weight, is listed at 24/24/16 m/min. A buyer choosing between the two is choosing between cycle time on this model and the standard spindle cooling of the other.
The standard spindle is YCM's IDD design at 12,000 rpm with grease lubrication. Oil-air lubrication, on a 12,000 or 15,000 rpm spindle, is an option, and so is the spindle cooling system. The power rating is 18.5 kW (25 HP) throughout. For long runs at high speed the cooling option deserves a place on the order.
Tool capacity starts at 24 and can be raised to 30 or 40. The larger magazines accept slimmer tools: the table gives ø90 x 300 mm for the 24-tool unit and ø76 x 300 mm for the 30 and 40-tool units. Tool change is 1.8 sec tool-to-tool, and each tool may weigh 6 kg (13 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- X and Y rapids of 48 m/min (1,890 ipm), double the 24 m/min of the NXV1020AM
- 1,120 x 520 mm (44 x 20.47 in) table rated for 500 kg (1,102 lb)
- Magazine options of 30 or 40 tools on top of the standard 24
- 1.8 sec tool-to-tool change with an inverter-controlled, absolute encoder ATC
- Tool magazine door driven by a pneumatic cylinder keeps coolant and chips out of the magazine
Limitations
- Spindle cooling is an option here, while the NXV1020AM lists it as standard
- Z rapid is 32 m/min (1,260 ipm), slower than X and Y
- The 30 and 40-tool magazines reduce the tool diameter with a full magazine from ø90 to ø76 mm
- Table load of 500 kg (1,102 lb) is modest for a table 1,120 mm long

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Speed and spindle thermal equipment. The NXV1020A rapids at 48/48/32 m/min and lists spindle cooling as an option with a grease-lubricated 12,000 rpm spindle. The NXV1020AM is listed at 24/24/16 m/min, with spindle cooling and oil-air lubrication as standard. Travels, table and weight are the same.
02
Travels are 1,020 mm (40.16 in) in X, 520 mm (20.47 in) in Y and 540 mm (21.26 in) in Z. The 1,120 x 520 mm (44 x 20.47 in) table is rated for 500 kg (1,102 lb), and spindle nose to table is 140~680 mm (5.51~26.77 in).
03
A 12,000 rpm IDD spindle with grease lubrication is standard. Oil-air lubrication for a 12,000 or 15,000 rpm spindle is optional. The table gives 18.5 kW (25 HP) for the standard and the optional spindle, and the taper is BBT40.
04
24 tools as standard, with 30 or 40 as options. The 24-tool magazine takes tools of ø90 x 300 mm, or ø140 x 300 mm without adjacent tools. The 30 and 40-tool magazines take ø76 x 300 mm, or ø125 x 300 mm without adjacent tools.
