Price estimate
We do not have a price for the YCM NTV158B that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A 50-taper spindle that turns 10,000 rpm as standard, on a Z axis driven by two drives: those are the two things to know about the YCM NTV158B. It shares its travels with the NTV158A, 1,530 mm (60.24 in) in X, 762 mm (30.00 in) in Y and 700 mm (27.56 in) in Z, and its 1,650 x 760 mm (64.96 x 29.92 in) table.
Most 50-taper vertical machines in YCM's list have gearhead spindles with a lower top speed. This one uses a direct-drive IDD spindle with a BBT50 taper, rated 22 kW (30 HP), and offers 30 kW (40 HP) and an HSK-A100 spindle of up to 15,000 rpm as options. It can therefore hold a large face mill for roughing and still spin a small finishing tool at a useful speed, which saves moving a big part to a second machine.
The dual drive on Z is there for the heavier head. YCM says it raises feedrate and acceleration and gives smoother axial motion and a finer surface. As on the A model there is no counterweight.
Tools may weigh 20 kg (44.1 lb) and measure up to ø240 x 350 mm in the 32 and 40-tool magazines when adjacent pockets are empty. The table takes 2,000 kg (4,409 lb). Rapids are 30 m/min in X and Y and 24 m/min in Z, on roller type guideways. Spindle nose to table is printed as 200~900 mm with 450~1,150 mm in brackets, and the machine weighs 15,500 kg (34,171 lb).

Frequently Asked Questions
01
A BBT50 IDD spindle with a maximum of 10,000 rpm and 22 kW (30 HP). The options are 30 kW (40 HP) and an HSK-A100 spindle of up to 15,000 rpm. It has cooling for the motor seat and spindle and oil-air lubrication.
02
According to YCM it increases feedrate and acceleration and deceleration, gives smooth, high-response axial control with low inertia, and improves surface roughness. It carries the 50-taper head without a counterweight.
03
Up to 20 kg (44.1 lb). The 24-tool magazine takes ø110 x 350 mm, or ø190 x 350 mm without adjacent tools. The 32 and 40-tool magazines take ø120 x 350 mm, or ø240 x 350 mm without adjacent tools.
04
The table is 1,650 x 760 mm (64.96 x 29.92 in) and is rated for 2,000 kg (4,409 lb). The T-base supports it over the full stroke, so there is no overhang at the ends of the 1,530 mm (60.24 in) X travel.
