Overview

A longer X on the 850 frame: that is the short description of the Accuway UM-110. X travel is 1,100 mm (43.3 in), while Y and Z remain 550 mm (21.7 in) each, and the table is 1,200 x 600 mm (47.2 x 23.6 in). Table load rises to 1,200 kg (2,646 lb).

The proportions decide what it is good at. A 600 mm wide table under 1,100 mm of X favours rails, manifolds and rows of small parts in a line of vises. Square plates are better served by the UM-120, whose Y travel is 650 mm (25.6 in).

Spindle and drive are the standard BT40 package of the series. 10,000 rpm is the listed speed, with 12,000 rpm in brackets and a Belt (Direct) drive row. The motor is 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp), with 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) bracketed. Feed motors are 3/3/4 kW on X/Y/Z, driving 45/45/45 mm (1.8/1.8/1.8 in) ball screws on ball-bearing guideways at 30 m/min (1,181 in/min).

Net weight is 7,500 kg (16,534 lb) on a footprint of 3 x 2.2 m, and height is 3 m. The FANUC 0i-M comes with AICC II on the standard list. A small oddity: this page's AI contour control row prints AICC 1 (AICC II), where other UM pages print AICC I.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,100 mm (43.3 in) of X travel with a 1,200 x 600 mm (47.2 x 23.6 in) table
  • 1,200 kg (2,646 lb) table load, against 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) on the UM-85
  • 30 m/min (1,181 in/min) rapid traverse on X, Y and Z
  • Arm type tool changer with 24 pockets and 30/32 printed in brackets

Limitations

  • Y travel is only 550 mm (21.7 in) against 1,100 mm of X
  • Ball-bearing guideways as listed; the roller version is the UM-110H
  • Standard spindle motor is 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp)
  • Maximum tool weight of 7 kg (15 lb) rules out heavy face mills
06

Best For

Long parts such as rails, bars and manifolds up to 1,100 mm Multiple vises in a row on a 1,200 mm table General BT40 machining with loads up to 1,200 kg Shops that need more X than the UM-85 in a similar footprint

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the table size and load of the UM-110?

The table is 1,200 x 600 mm (47.2 x 23.6 in) with 5 T-slots of 18 mm at a 100 mm pitch, and the maximum weight on the table is 1,200 kg (2,646 lb). X, Y and Z travels are 1,100 mm, 550 mm and 550 mm.

02 Which is better for plate work, the UM-110 or the UM-120?

The UM-120 has 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of X, 650 mm (25.6 in) of Y and 600 mm (23.6 in) of Z, with a 1,200 x 650 mm table rated at 1,300 kg (2,866 lb). The UM-110 gives 550 mm of Y and Z. For wide plates the extra 100 mm of Y on the UM-120 is the deciding figure.

03 What control does the Accuway UM-110 use?

A FANUC 0i-M. The standard accessories list reads FANUC 0i-M controller + AICC II, along with an RJ-45 interface and a 10.4" colored LCD monitor. A 15" monitor and a 2G data server are optional.

04 How heavy is the UM-110 and how much room does it need?

Net weight is 7,500 kg (16,534 lb). The machine dimension row gives 3 x 2.2 x 3 m (118.1 x 86.6 x 118.1 in) as L x W x H. An optional chain type chip conveyor with chip cart adds to that footprint.
