Overview

With the TV158B, YCM's TV series changes frame size. Y travel jumps to 860 mm (33.86 in) and Z to 750 mm (29.53 in), alongside 1,500 mm (59.06 in) of X, and the machine weight reaches 18,000 kg (39,683 lb). It is a 50-taper vertical machining center for workpieces that are wide as well as long.

A table of 1,700 x 860 mm (66.93 x 33.86 in) rated for 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) takes die shoes, mold bases and welded frames that the narrower TV models cannot reach across. The T-slots grow too, to 22 mm on a 150 mm pitch, which matches the clamping hardware used for parts of that weight.

The headstock gets an inner-rail arrangement on Z, which YCM says keeps it moving smoothly in heavy cuts, and its counterweight is held on a guide bar. Axis speeds step down with the larger masses: 15 m/min (591 ipm) in X and Y and 12 m/min (472 ipm) in Z. Cutting feed is 1~5,000 mm/min.

The spindle offering is the series one. A BT50 gearhead unit at 6,000 rpm is standard with 25 kW (33.5 HP) in the table; 10,000 rpm with 45 kW (60.4 HP) is the option. The magazine holds 24 tools, or 32 or 40, each up to 20 kg (44 lb). A tool can be ø240 x 350 mm in the larger magazines when its neighbours are left out, which covers big face mills and boring heads.
