How much does the ROMI C 1300H cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the ROMI C 1300H that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With the ROMI C 1300H the heavy-duty range changes class. The bed widens to 800 mm (31 in), the main motor goes to 114 hp / 84 kW, and the weight allowed between centers rises to 22,000 kg (48,500 lbs) with the A2-20” spindle. Swing over the bed is 1,300 mm (51 in).
How the saddle is driven depends on the length ordered. On the 3.5 and 5 m machines a recirculating ball screw moves it, and the Z rapid is 5 m/min (197 in/min). From 6.5 m upward Romi switches to a pre-loaded double pinion running on precision racks, read by a linear scale, and the rapid doubles to 10 m/min (394 in/min). Seven lengths are listed, the longest 12.5 m between centers with 12,605 mm of travel.
The headstock is geared in two ranges: 1 to 125 rpm in range I, and up to 500 rpm in range II. Maximum torque allowed is 17,726 Nm. The thru-hole is 305 mm (12 in), narrower than on the C 1100H, so this is a lathe for solid shafts and rolls more than for pipe.
Around the part, the C 1300H is better equipped than the two smaller models. Its tailstock is servo driven along the bed, the quill is 290 mm (11.4 in) in diameter with a built-in 80 x 60° live center, and load sensors monitor the thrust force. Swing over the cross slide is 900 mm (35 in) with 820 mm (32 in) of cross travel. The 3.5 m version weighs about 28,420 kg (62,700 lbs). A Siemens Sinumerik 840D on an articulated, sliding panel controls it.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Holds 22,000 kg (48,500 lbs) between centers at 50 rpm with the A2-20” spindle
- 114 hp / 84 kW motor (82 hp / 60 kW continuous) and 17,726 Nm of maximum torque
- Seven bed lengths, up to 12.5 m between centers
- Servo driven tailstock with a 290 mm (11.4 in) quill and thrust-force monitoring
- Rack and double pinion Z drive with linear scale on the beds from 6.5 m
Limitations
- Thru-hole is 305 mm (12 in), smaller than the 375 mm (14.8 in) of the C 1100H
- Z rapid is 5 m/min (197 in/min) on the 3.5 to 5 m beds
- Needs 95 kVA of installed power
- Swing over the cross slide is 900 mm (35 in), which caps shaft diameter well below the bed swing

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The table gives 22,000 kg (48,500 lbs) between centers at 50 rpm with the ASA A2-20” spindle, and 15,000 kg (33,100 lbs) with ASA A2-15”. Romi adds that other admissible weights can be offered on request.
02
Distance between centers is 3.5 / 5 / 6.5 / 8 / 9.5 / 11 / 12.5 m (138 / 197 / 256 / 315 / 374 / 433 / 492 in). The 3.5 and 5 m machines use a ball screw in Z; the longer ones use a pre-loaded double pinion on racks with a linear scale.
03
The speed range is 1 to 500 rpm, with range I covering 1 to 125 rpm. Maximum torque allowed is 17,726 Nm. The main motor is rated 114 hp / 84 kW on the S2 - 30 min. rating and 82 hp / 60 kW continuous.
04
Only in height of centers and swing. The C 1300H swings 1,300 mm (51 in) over the bed and 900 mm (35 in) over the cross slide; the C 1600H swings 1,600 mm (63 in) and 1,200 mm (47 in). Bed, headstock, motor and tailstock are common to both.
