Overview
The Pinnacle AX260 is a compact 5-axis machining center built around a BBT30 spindle and a Ø260 mm (Ø10.2 in) trunnion table. Travels are 510 mm (20.1 in) in X, 455 mm (17.9 in) in Y and 380 mm (15.0 in) in Z, and it is the fastest AX model in a straight line at 48 / 48 / 48 m/min.
A 30-taper spindle sets its character. It turns 15,000 (20,000) rpm on a 5.5 / 7.5 kW (7.4 / 10.1 hp) motor and changes tools from a 30-pocket magazine, but each tool may weigh no more than 3 kg (7 lb). That is a drill-tap style package applied to 5-sided and 5-axis parts in aluminium and other light alloys.
The table tilts 150° (-30°/+120°) and rotates 360°, driven by roller cam instead of the DD motors used on the AX170. Speeds are 26.3 rpm on A and 84.3 rpm on C. Rotary accuracy is quoted as 15" / 10" with the encoder option, and the rotary encoders appear in the optional accessories list, so the base machine positions the table without them.
Workpieces up to Ø500 x 300 mm (Ø19.7 x 11.8 in) and 100 kg (220 lb) fit. The machine weighs 4,000 kg (8,818 lb) and measures 2,100 x 2,580 x 3,032 mm (82.7 x 101.6 x 119.4 in).
