Overview
The Pinnacle BX900 is the largest swivel-head model in the BX line: 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of X, 900 mm (35.4 in) of Y, and Z of Vertical 1,000 / Horizontal 1,100 mm. A Ø800 mm (Ø31.5 in) direct-drive rotary table is built into the 1,700x850 mm (66.9x33.5 in) main table.
Size brings a different balance of figures. The table carries 1,200 kg (2,646 lb) and the machine weighs 15,000 kg (33,069 lb), but rapids are 20/20/16 m/min, well under the 36 m/min of the BX700 group. Supply rises to 50 kVA and the coolant tank to 700 L.
On the base BX900 the B axis is worm driven at 16.6 rpm with 1,765 Nm (1,301.9 lb-ft) of clamp torque; the C axis is direct drive at 50 rpm. Rotary accuracy is 14"/10". Pinnacle's description highlights finishing complex workpieces in one setup with the head swivelling ±120°.
The built-in spindle is DIN40 with 15/19.4 kW (20.1/26.0 hp) and 71.6/172 Nm (52.8/126.9 lb-ft) at up to 15,000 rpm. Thirty tools are standard and 60 optional.
