How much does the AWEA LG-6030 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA LG-6030 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The AWEA LG-6030 is the first size in the LG range to drive its gantry by rack and pinion. X travel is 6,000 mm (236.2 in), Y is 3,000 mm (118.1 in), Z is 1,000 mm (39.4 in), and the fixed table measures 6,000 x 2,800 mm (236.2 x 110.2 in).
AWEA puts it this way for X travels of 6 m and above: a patented zero backlash rack & pinion combined with a high resolution linear scale. The result in the table is an X rapid of 20 m/min (787 ipm). That is twice the 10 m/min (394 ipm) of the LG-5030 one size down, and from here the figure stays put all the way to the LG-10030. Y rapid is 15 m/min (591 ipm), so on this machine the long axis is the faster one. Z moves at 10 m/min (394 ipm).
Accuracy follows the length. X positioning under VDI is P = 0.035 mm and repeatability Ps = 0.026 mm; Y and Z hold P = 0.025 mm over full travel with Ps = 0.020 mm. The JIS rows read ± 0.025 for positioning and ± 0.003 mm for repeatability.
Z rides on roller type linear guide ways, and the Y-axis guide ways are offset from each other to shorten the distance between spindle and crossbeam. The spindle, its motor, the ball screw and two hydraulic counterweight cylinders are placed symmetrically in the head, which AWEA says prevents thermal distortion. Clearance under the spindle nose runs 200 ~ 1,200 mm (7.9 ~ 47.2 in), and 3,800 mm passes between the columns, 3,500 mm with the water eliminator fitted.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- X rapid of 20 m/min (787 ipm) from a zero backlash rack and pinion drive, twice the LG-5030's 10 m/min (394 ipm)
- Linear scale feedback on the X axis is part of the standard drive description
- Symmetrical head layout with dual hydraulic counterweight cylinders, aimed at limiting thermal distortion
- Y and Z positioning of P = 0.025 mm over full travel under VDI
- 6,000 x 2,800 mm (236.2 x 110.2 in) of fixed table at 2,500 kg/m²
Limitations
- X positioning widens to P = 0.035 mm, from P = 0.030 mm on the ball screw LG-5030
- Z rapid of 10 m/min (394 ipm) is the slowest axis and the same on every size
- Maximum tool diameter is Ø127 mm (Ø5.0 in) with neighbouring pockets filled; 215 mm (8.5 in) needs them empty
- Y travel stops at 3,000 mm (118.1 in); a wider part needs the LG-6040 with 4,000 mm (157.5 in)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The X drive. The LG-5030 uses twin ball screws and is listed at 10 m/min (394 ipm) in X. The LG-6030 uses AWEA's patented zero backlash rack & pinion with a linear scale and is listed at 20 m/min (787 ipm). X positioning under VDI is P = 0.035 mm here with Ps = 0.026 mm repeatability, where the LG-5030 holds P = 0.030 mm and Ps = 0.022 mm.
02
AWEA describes roller type linear guide ways on the Z-axis, chosen to combine the heavy cutting of a box way with the fast movement and low abrasion of a linear guide. The Y-axis roller guide ways are offset from each other, which AWEA says raises rigidity and brings the spindle closer to the crossbeam.
03
The distance from spindle nose to table top is 200 ~ 1,200 mm (7.9 ~ 47.2 in) and Z travel is 1,000 mm (39.4 in). Tool length, up to 350 mm (13.8 in) from the gauge line, and any milling head fitted come out of that clearance, so tall parts should be checked against the actual head and tool in use.
04
The series is designed for it, but the equipment is selectable. AWEA says the LG series could be equipped with an automatic head changer and a vertical / horizontal ATC system to work as a 5-face machining center, and that the automatic milling head can be controlled by programming. Confirm which heads are included in the order.
05
AWEA states a maximum of 982 Nm at 253 rpm for the 4,000 rpm gear spindle, which uses a 26 kW (35 HP) motor and a 2-speed gearbox. The optional built-in spindles, at 6,000 rpm and 8,000 rpm, provide a maximum of 600 Nm at 350 rpm.
