Overview
The Pinnacle BX500A combines a ± 120° swivel head with a detachable Ø 500 mm (Ø 19.7 in) rotary table on a 1,450 x 610 mm (57.1 x 24.0 in) fixed table. X travel is 1,300 mm (51.2 in), Y 610 mm (24.0 in) and Z 810 mm (31.9 in).
Its place in the A group is easy to state. The BX300A has a smaller rotary table and less X; the BX700A is a much heavier machine with 710 mm (28.0 in) of Y. The BX500A keeps the light frame, 6,800 kg (14,991 lb), while raising the rotary table load to 500 kg (1,102 lb).
Both rotary axes are worm driven on this version. The head turns at up to 25 rpm, the table at 11.1 rpm, and rotary positioning accuracy is 14"/14". For indexing work those speeds are adequate. For continuous 5-axis contouring the embedded direct-drive table of the BX500, at 50 rpm, is the better tool, and it does not come off.
The built-in spindle is common across the group: 15,000 rpm, 15 / 18 kW (20.1 / 24.1 hp), DIN40 (HSKA63). Thirty tools are standard in the plate magazine, with 40 and 60 listed as alternatives. Floor space is 3,400 x 2,230 mm (133.9 x 87.8 in) and supply 40 kVA.
