Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Matec FUV620 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Matec FUV620 is the smaller of MATEC's two 5-axis universal machining centres with a swivelling rotary table. Travels are 620 x 520 x 460 mm (24.4 x 20.5 x 18.1 in), the table's clamping surface is Ø 650 mm (Ø 25.6 in), and the B axis swivels the table from -50° to +110° while the C axis turns a full 360°.
MATEC describes a base of tightly ribbed Meehanite cast iron and a swivel bridge supported in a counterbearing. Hydraulic axial brakes clamp the rotary axes with up to 4,410 Nm, which is what lets the machine do 5-sided work with the table locked as well as simultaneous 5-axis cutting. Glass scales on the linear axes and direct encoders on the rotary axes are standard equipment, as is temperature compensation.
The table lists two spindle speeds for the FUV620, 12,000 and 15,000 rpm, both with HSK63 or SK40 tooling. The magazine holds 48 tools as standard, with 60 or 120 as options, and it is loaded from outside the work area. Tools can be 250 mm (9.8 in) long and 7 kg (15 lb); the table gives two diameters, 75 and 127 mm (3.0 and 5.0 in), without saying when the larger one applies. Linear axes rapid at 48 m/min (1,890 ipm).
The FUV720 is the same design one size up: 720 x 600 x 520 mm of travel, a Ø 720 mm table and 10,320 kg against the FUV620's 8,500 kg (18,739 lb). MATEC shows the FUV620 with a robot or a round pallet store as automation examples. The standard control is the HEIDENHAIN TNC 640 HSCI, with SIEMENS ONE as the option.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Simultaneous 5-axis and 5-sided machining, with hydraulic brakes clamping the rotary axes at up to 4,410 Nm
- B axis swivel of -50° to +110° and a full 360° C axis
- Glass scales on all linear axes and direct encoders on the rotary axes are standard equipment
- 48-tool magazine as standard, loaded from outside, with 60 or 120 pockets optional
- 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) rapid traverse on a machine weighing 8,500 kg (18,739 lb)
Limitations
- MATEC's page gives two different workpiece weights for the table, so the load limit has to be confirmed before a heavy fixture is planned
- Travels of 620 x 520 x 460 mm (24.4 x 20.5 x 18.1 in) limit the part that can be swung on the Ø 650 mm (Ø 25.6 in) table
- The enclosure is listed without a roof
- Tools are limited to 250 mm (9.8 in) in length and 7 kg (15 lb)
- Through-tool coolant at 30 or 70 bar, touch probe and laser tool measurement are all options

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X, Y and Z travels are 620, 520 and 460 mm (24.4, 20.5 and 18.1 in). The rotary table has a clamping surface of Ø 650 mm (Ø 25.6 in), swivels from -50° to +110° in B and rotates 360° in C. The distance from spindle nose to table is given as 200 to 660 mm (7.9 to 26.0 in).
02
Size, weight and the listed spindle speed. The FUV720 has 720 x 600 x 520 mm of travel, a Ø 720 mm table, an 18,000 rpm spindle and weighs 10,320 kg. The FUV620 has 620 x 520 x 460 mm of travel, a Ø 650 mm table, 12,000 or 15,000 rpm and weighs 8,500 kg. Both share the 48-tool magazine and 48 m/min rapids.
03
MATEC's page is not consistent on this. The descriptive text speaks of workpieces up to a total weight of 500 kg, while the technical data table shows a lower figure under a unit it prints as kg | m². Treat neither as settled and ask MATEC for the rated load with your fixture before planning heavy parts.
04
The standard equipment list names the HEIDENHAIN TNC 640 HSCI with an HR 510 handwheel, glass scales in all linear axes, direct encoders in all rotation axes and temperature compensation. SIEMENS ONE is listed as the optional control. A workpiece touch probe and laser tool measurement are options.
05
MATEC shows two examples on the product page: a 6-axis robot with automatic gripper change, and a round pallet store with six places for 400 x 400 mm pallets feeding an FUV620 with a Ø 650 mm rotary table. A zero-point clamping system on the table lets the machine switch between automated and manual work.
