Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Matec 30P | 40P that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Matec 30P | 40P turns the layout around: the table stands still and the gantry carries all the axis movements. That lets MATEC offer X travel from 3,000 to 40,000 mm (118.1 to 1,574.8 in), far beyond the 6,750 mm of the moving-table 30PT | 40PT, because the table no longer has to travel its own length.
MATEC makes two points about the design. The machine itself is only slightly longer than its X travel, so it needs less floor than a stationary gantry of the same stroke. And a stationary table is structurally more resilient, since it can be supported along its whole length. Tables run from 3,500 to 40,500 mm long and 2,100 to 3,100 mm wide. The table load is printed as 4,000 kg (8,818 lb), depending on table size and drive system.
Y travel ranges from 2,500 to 4,300 mm and Z is 1,300, 1,500 or 1,800 mm (51.2, 59.1 or 70.9 in), with clearance heights of 1,100, 1,300 or 1,650 mm. Tall parts need checking against those figures. The head is the 2-axis fork head with a 250 mm (9.8 in) swivel radius, ±180° in C and ±105° in A.
Spindles of 10,000, 15,000 or 24,000 rpm are offered with up to 96 kW (128.7 hp) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft), in HSK63 or HSK100. According to MATEC the basic design is identical for both performance classes. Ball screws are the standard axis drive at 30 m/min (1,181 ipm) and a linear drive is the option, which becomes the practical choice as X grows long.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- X travel from 3,000 to 40,000 mm (118.1 to 1,574.8 in)
- Machine only slightly longer than its X travel, according to MATEC
- Stationary table from 3,500 to 40,500 mm long, loaded without moving the part
- Spindle speeds up to 24,000 rpm with a 96 kW (128.7 hp) maximum
- Same basic design for the HSK63 and HSK100 performance classes
Limitations
- Z travel stops at 1,800 mm (70.9 in) and clearance height at 1,650 mm (65.0 in)
- Fork head A axis is limited to ±105°
- Standard ball screw drive runs at 30 m/min (1,181 ipm), slow for the longest X travels
- Table load is printed as 4,000 kg (8,818 lb) with no figure per unit of table area

Frequently Asked Questions
01
MATEC lists X travel from 3,000 to 40,000 mm (118.1 to 1,574.8 in) and table lengths from 3,500 to 40,500 mm. Y travel is 2,500 to 4,300 mm and table width 2,100 to 3,100 mm. The company states that the machine is only slightly longer than the travel of the X axis.
02
MATEC gives two reasons. The moving gantry needs less space than a stationary gantry, because the table does not travel. And stationary machine tables are, in its words, structurally much more resilient. The moving-table 30PT | 40PT is the alternative for parts up to 6,750 mm of X travel.
03
A 2-axis fork head with a 250 mm (9.8 in) swivel radius, ±180° in the C axis and ±105° in the A axis. Spindle speeds are 10,000, 15,000 or 24,000 rpm, with a maximum of 96 kW (128.7 hp) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft). The 30PU | 40PU is the same machine with a universal head.
04
Clearance height is 1,100, 1,300 or 1,650 mm (43.3, 51.2 or 65.0 in), and Z travel is 1,300, 1,500 or 1,800 mm. Clearance width is 1,900 to 3,400 mm. Tool length of up to 450 mm (17.7 in) comes off the usable height.
