Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Matec 30PT | 40PT that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Matec 30PT | 40PT is a 5-axis gantry machining centre with a stationary gantry and a moving table, fitted with a 2-axis fork head. MATEC lists it in two performance classes, HSK63 and HSK100, and as a set of sizes: X travel of 3,750, 4,750, 5,750 or 6,750 mm, Y of 3,400 or 4,400 mm and Z of 1,500, 1,800 or 2,100 mm (59.1, 70.9 or 82.7 in).
The fork head is the plain one in the range. MATEC calls gantry centres with this head classic standard machines for 5-sided machining without special requirements for maximum precision, with DIN ISO 230-2 as the basis. It swivels ±105° in A and ±180° in C on a 250 mm (9.8 in) swivel radius, and the compact fork lets the spindle reach some features from below. Buyers who need tighter rotary positioning should look at the 30PTU | 40PTU or 30PTT | 40PTT, whose heads carry finer measuring systems.
Spindle options run to 10,000, 15,000 or 20,000 rpm, with a maximum of 96 kW (128.7 hp) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft). The magazine has 40 or 48 places and can be extended to a maximum of 680, for tools up to 450 mm (17.7 in) long and 10 or 20 kg (22 or 44 lb). An interchangeable head magazine for four machining heads with automatic change is optional.
The clamping table comes 2,000 to 5,000 mm long and 2,000 or 3,000 mm wide and carries up to 4,000 kg (8,818 lb), depending on table size and drive system. Under the gantry there is 1,350, 1,650 or 2,050 mm of clearance height and 2,320 or 3,320 mm of clearance width. Feed and rapid traverse are 30 m/min (1,181 ipm); a linear drive or toothed rack drive is offered as an option. Controls are SIEMENS or HEIDENHAIN.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X travel is 3,750, 4,750, 5,750 or 6,750 mm (147.6, 187.0, 226.4 or 265.7 in), Y is 3,400 or 4,400 mm and Z is 1,500, 1,800 or 2,100 mm. Tables are 2,000, 3,000, 4,000 or 5,000 mm long and 2,000 or 3,000 mm wide. MATEC's page does not say which combinations go with which of the two model numbers.
02
A 2-axis fork head with a swivel radius of 250 mm (9.8 in). The C axis rotates ±180° and the A axis ±105°, both with direct measuring systems. MATEC describes fork heads as very compact and able to do certain machining operations from below in the A axis.
03
MATEC states maximum figures across the series: 96 kW (128.7 hp) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft), with speeds of 10,000, 15,000 or 20,000 rpm. The performance class is HSK63 or HSK100. Which power and torque go with which speed is not broken out on the product page.
