Overview

The Matec FUV800 B puts an HSK100 | SK50 spindle on MATEC's 5-axis gantry machining centre. The frame is the one used for the HSK63 machine: 800 x 920 x 650 mm (31.5 x 36.2 x 25.6 in) of travel, an 800 mm (31.5 in) table on a swivel bridge between the side walls, and 21,000 kg (46,296 lb) of machine weight. What changes is the tooling the spindle can carry.

Tools can weigh 15 kg (33 lb), against 7 kg on the FUV800, at the same 300 mm (11.8 in) maximum length. The table gives the spindle power as 18 | 25 kW (24.1 | 33.5 hp) without labelling the two figures, and no torque is printed, so the ratings behind them need to be asked for. Speed is listed as 12,000 rpm, with 15,000, 18,000 and 20,000 rpm in brackets; the row is shared with the smaller-taper machine, and whether every speed is offered in HSK100 is not stated.

The larger taper reduces magazine capacity. MATEC states a standard 32 tools and a maximum of 60 tools with HSK100 | SK50, where the HSK63 | SK40 machine can go to 120. The workpiece side is unchanged: parts up to 900 mm in diameter and 550 mm high, a total weight of up to 1,200 kg (2,646 lb), 120° of A axis tilt to either side and a 360° C axis.

Direct path measuring systems are fitted in all axes, and rapid traverse is 36 m/min (1,417 ipm) with 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) shown in brackets. The footprint is 3,450 x 5,310 mm and the height 3,600 mm (141.7 in). Standard control is the HEIDENHAIN TNC 640 HSCI; SIEMENS ONE is the option.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • HSK100 | SK50 spindle on a 5-axis tilting-table machine, with tools up to 15 kg (33 lb)
  • 18 | 25 kW (24.1 | 33.5 hp) of listed spindle power, above the 14 kW of the FUV800
  • Workpieces up to 1,200 kg (2,646 lb), 900 mm in diameter and 550 mm high
  • A axis range of -120° to +120° with direct measuring systems in all axes

Limitations

  • Magazine tops out at 60 tools in HSK100 | SK50
  • MATEC prints no spindle torque for this model and does not label its two power figures
  • Tool length stays at 300 mm (11.8 in) despite the larger taper
  • 21,000 kg (46,296 lb) and a 3,450 x 5,310 mm footprint for an 800 mm (31.5 in) table

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does the B version change on the FUV800 B?

MATEC does not explain the letter, but the table shows what it changes: the tool holder is HSK100 | SK50 where the FUV800 has HSK63 | SK40, tool weight rises from 7 kg to 15 kg (33 lb), power is given as 18 | 25 kW, and the magazine is 32 tools as standard with two larger sizes as options.

02 What size and weight of part can the FUV800 B machine?

The table has an 800 mm (31.5 in) clamping surface. MATEC states workpieces up to a total weight of 1,200 kg (2,646 lb), a maximum diameter of 900 mm and a height of 550 mm. Travels are 800 mm in X, 920 mm in Y and 650 mm in Z.

03 How many tools does the FUV800 B hold?

32 tools in the standard version. MATEC's text says the machine can be equipped with a maximum of 60 tools in HSK100 | SK50, and the table lists 40 and 60 as the larger magazines. Each tool can be up to 300 mm (11.8 in) long and 15 kg (33 lb).

04 What spindle speed does the FUV800 B run at?

The speed row reads 12,000 rpm with 15,000, 18,000 and 20,000 rpm in brackets and spans both models of the pair. The equipment sheet lists HSK100 | SK50 under optional spindles without a speed. Confirm with MATEC which speeds are built in the larger taper before specifying the machine.
