Matec 50PB — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Matec 50PB that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Matec or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Matec 50PB is the largest floor-running gantry MATEC lists, and the only one with a W axis. In addition to the Z axis in the ram, the whole gantry beam adjusts in height automatically, by 800 mm (31.5 in) or optionally 1,100 mm (43.3 in).

The purpose is height. Z travel is 1,100 or 1,500 mm, and the maximum clearance height is 3,370 mm (132.7 in), well above the 1,800 mm of the 30PB | 40PB. Raising the beam for a tall part and lowering it for a low one also keeps the ram short when it can be, which helps stiffness at the tool.

Y travel is fixed at 5,000 mm (196.9 in) and clearance width at 4,400 mm (173.2 in). X travel is 6,000 to 20,000 mm, driven by a linear drive, while Y and Z use ball screws; feed and rapid traverse are 30 m/min (1,181 ipm). The table is 6,500 to 20,500 mm long and 2,000 to 3,000 mm wide, with a load of 4,000 kg/m².

The table lists a 2-axis fork head torque with a 280 mm (11.0 in) swivel radius, ±360° in C and ±110° in A, and MATEC's text speaks of an infinitely variable 2-axis torque fork head. The page heading mentions a universal head instead, so the head should be confirmed. Spindles are 10,000 or 15,000 rpm with up to 96 kW (128.7 hp) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft). The magazine is given only as a maximum of 680 places, with tools up to 450 mm (17.7 in) and 20 kg (44 lb).

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the W axis on the 50PB?

It is the height adjustment of the gantry beam. MATEC states that the beam is automatically height-adjustable in addition to the Z axis, with 800 mm (31.5 in) of travel or optionally 1,100 mm (43.3 in), and that combined with the Z axis it allows very high workpieces to be machined.

02 How tall and wide a part can the 50PB take?

Maximum clearance height is 3,370 mm (132.7 in) and clearance width 4,400 mm (173.2 in). Y travel is 5,000 mm (196.9 in), Z travel 1,100 or 1,500 mm and X travel 6,000 to 20,000 mm (236.2 to 787.4 in).

03 How are the axes of the 50PB driven?

The X axis has a linear drive. The Y and Z axes use ball screws. Feed and rapid traverse are given as 30 m/min (1,181 ipm). On the smaller floor-running machines the linear drive is an option; here it is part of the listed axis drives.

04 Which head does the 50PB have?

The specification table lists a 2-axis fork head torque: 280 mm (11.0 in) swivel radius, ±360° in the C axis and ±110° in the A axis, with direct measuring systems. The descriptive text also refers to a torque fork head, while the heading on the page says universal head. Ask MATEC which applies.
