Matec FUV720 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Matec FUV720 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Matec or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

At 10,320 kg (22,751 lb), the Matec FUV720 is the larger and heavier of MATEC's two swivel-table 5-axis universal machining centres. It moves 720 mm (28.3 in) in X, 600 mm (23.6 in) in Y and 520 mm (20.5 in) in Z over a rotary table with a Ø 720 mm (Ø 28.3 in) clamping surface. MATEC's text describes the face plate as Ø 720 x 540 mm, which suggests a round plate with flats rather than a full circle.

The spindle is where the table sets this model apart from the FUV620. Its column shows a single speed, 18,000 rpm, with HSK63 or SK40 tooling, while the FUV620 column shows 12,000 and 15,000 rpm. The equipment sheet for the series also names optional spindles up to 24,000 rpm with HSK63. Which of these is the base machine today is worth confirming, because the sheet and the table do not line up exactly.

Kinematics are shared with the smaller machine: the table swivels from -50° to +110° in B and turns 360° in C, the rotary axes are clamped hydraulically for 5-sided work, and all axes carry direct measuring systems as standard. Rapid traverse is 48 m/min (1,890 ipm). The spindle nose sits between 150 and 670 mm (5.9 and 26.4 in) from the table, a wider span than the 200 to 660 mm of the FUV620.

The magazine holds 48 tools, optionally 60 or 120, each up to 250 mm (9.8 in) long and 7 kg (15 lb). The footprint is 4,300 x 4,250 mm with a height of 3,060 mm (120.5 in), and the enclosure is listed without a roof. Control is the HEIDENHAIN TNC 640 HSCI as standard or SIEMENS ONE as an option.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 18,000 rpm spindle listed for this model, with HSK63 or SK40 tooling
  • 720 x 600 x 520 mm (28.3 x 23.6 x 20.5 in) of travel over a Ø 720 mm (Ø 28.3 in) table
  • Spindle nose to table distance of 150 to 670 mm (5.9 to 26.4 in) leaves room for tall fixtures
  • Direct encoders on the rotary axes and glass scales on the linear axes as standard equipment
  • Magazine can be extended from 48 to 60 or 120 pockets and is fed from outside the work area

Limitations

  • The table load is not stated consistently on MATEC's page and needs to be confirmed
  • Weighs 10,320 kg (22,751 lb) on a 4,300 x 4,250 mm footprint, more than the FUV620 at 8,500 kg
  • Tool weight is limited to 7 kg (15 lb) and tool length to 250 mm (9.8 in)
  • Kinematic Opt, touch probe, laser tool measurement and through-tool coolant are listed as options, not standard equipment

Best For

5-axis mould and die details that benefit from 18,000 rpm Parts too large for the Ø 650 mm table of the FUV620 5-sided machining with the rotary axes hydraulically clamped Longer unattended runs with the 120-pocket magazine option

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What spindle does the Matec FUV720 have?

MATEC's technical data table lists 18,000 rpm with HSK63 or SK40 tooling in the FUV720 column. The equipment sheet for the series lists optional spindles up to 15,000, 18,000 and 24,000 rpm with HSK63. The table's power row prints two figures per spindle without saying what each one is, so ask MATEC for the rated power and torque.

02 How big a part fits on the FUV720?

Travels are 720 x 600 x 520 mm (28.3 x 23.6 x 20.5 in) and the clamping surface is Ø 720 mm (Ø 28.3 in). The distance from spindle nose to table runs from 150 to 670 mm (5.9 to 26.4 in). The table swivels from -50° to +110°, so check the swing of the part and fixture at the tilt angles you need.

03 How does the FUV720 compare with the FUV620?

The FUV620 has 620 x 520 x 460 mm of travel, a Ø 650 mm table and weighs 8,500 kg; the FUV720 has 720 x 600 x 520 mm, a Ø 720 mm table and weighs 10,320 kg. Both rapid at 48 m/min, share the 48-tool magazine and swivel -50° to +110° in B. The FUV720 column lists 18,000 rpm where the FUV620 column lists 12,000 and 15,000 rpm.

04 What does the standard equipment of the FUV720 include?

The list covers the HEIDENHAIN TNC 640 HSCI control with an HR 510 handwheel, roller linear guides in all axes, glass scales and direct encoders, temperature compensation, a scraper-type chip conveyor, an external coolant system and a full work area enclosure without roof. SIEMENS ONE, through-tool coolant at 30 or 70 bar and a 60 or 120 pocket magazine are options.
