Overview
The Hwacheon Sirius-2500 is a high-performance vertical machining center from the Korean manufacturer Hwacheon, known for building rigid, thermally stable machines at competitive price points. The Sirius-2500 targets precision mold and die work as well as general production machining.
X/Y/Z travels are 1,270 x 635 x 635 mm (50 x 25 x 25 in) with a table size of 1,397 x 635 mm (55 x 25 in). The direct-drive spindle runs at 12,000 rpm with 18.5 kW (25 hp) on BT40 taper (CAT40 available). The 30-tool arm-type ATC delivers approximately 2.5-second tool changes.
Rapids reach 36 m/min on X/Y and 30 m/min on Z. Roller linear guideways on all axes provide high rigidity for heavy cutting. Positioning accuracy is +/- 0.005 mm with repeatability of +/- 0.003 mm. Table load capacity is 1,000 kg.
The Sirius-2500 runs on Fanuc 0i-MF or Siemens 828D control. Machine weight is approximately 7,500 kg. Hwacheon builds its own spindles and uses thermally symmetric casting designs for dimensional stability during extended cuts.
The Sirius-2500 competes with the Haas VF-4, Doosan DNM 6700, and Mazak VCN-530C but offers Hwacheon build quality at a competitive price.
New machines price $85,000-$130,000. Used trade $40,000-$75,000.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Large 1,270mm X-travel with BT40 rigidity at a competitive price
- Roller linear guideways provide high rigidity for heavy cutting
- Hwacheon-built spindles with thermal stability for extended machining
- 1,000 kg table load handles substantial workpieces
- Choice of Fanuc or Siemens controls
- Thermally symmetric castings maintain accuracy during long production runs
Limitations
- 12,000 rpm spindle is slower than high-speed machines for aluminum
- Hwacheon brand awareness is lower than Haas or Mazak in North America
- 2.5-second tool change is slower than compact VMCs
- Service network is smaller than major Japanese or American brands
- Rapids of 36 m/min are moderate by modern standards

Frequently Asked Questions
01
New $85,000-$130,000. Used $40,000-$75,000.
02
Korean machine tool manufacturer founded in 1945, known for building their own spindles and thermally stable machine structures.
03
Fanuc 0i-MF or Siemens 828D, depending on regional availability and customer preference.
04
Similar envelope but Hwacheon uses roller guideways vs Haas linear guides, with a heavier casting and Hwacheon-built spindle.
05
Yes. The thermal stability and rigid roller guideways make it well-suited for mold and die machining.
