Overview

The Hwacheon Hi-M760 is a high-speed vertical machining center with a 24,000 rpm HSK-E40 spindle rated 11.2 kW (15.0 hp), 750 x 600 x 350 mm (29.5 x 23.6 x 13.8 in) of travel and a 750 x 620 mm (29.5 x 24.4 in) table. It uses the same envelope as the Hwacheon Hi-M G1 but gets more spindle power, 11.2 kW against 9.5 kW (12.7 hp), and a water-cooled spindle on Ø70 mm (Ø2.8 in) bearings in place of the G1's oil-cooled jacket.

SIEMENS-828D is the standard control and FANUC 0i-MF the option. The table also lists a 1.1 kW (1.5 hp) coolant pump motor. Power demand is 30 kVA, and the machine takes up 2,115 x 2,333 mm (83.3 x 91.9 in) of floor at 4,760 kg (10,494 lb), so it fits where a larger vertical would not.

The tooling limits deserve a careful look. The magazine holds 16 tools by fixed address, up to 200 mm (7.9 in) long and 3 kg (6.6 lb), and the table lists the maximum tool diameter as Ø16 mm (Ø0.6 in). Taken at face value, that confines the machine to small end mills, drills and engraving tools, and rules out face mills and larger shell cutters. Confirm the limit for your configuration with Hwacheon before planning any job around bigger tools.

The axes are the same as on the rest of the small Hi-M range: rapids of 25 / 25 / 20 m/min (984 / 984 / 787 ipm), cutting feed up to 10,000 mm/min (394 ipm) and 100 to 450 mm (3.9 to 17.7 in) from spindle nose to table. The table carries 400 kg (882 lb) on five 16 mm T-slots at 125 mm pitch. Allow 6-7 kgf/cm² of air and a height of 2,500 ~ 2,730 mm (98.4 ~ 107.5 in).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 11.2 kW (15.0 hp) on the 24,000 rpm spindle, more than the 9.5 kW (12.7 hp) of the Hwacheon Hi-M G1
  • Water-cooled built-in spindle on Ø70 mm (Ø2.8 in) bearings
  • Footprint of 2,115 x 2,333 mm (83.3 x 91.9 in) on a 30 kVA supply
  • SIEMENS-828D as standard, with FANUC 0i-MF as an option
  • Cutting feed to 10,000 mm/min (394 ipm) with 25 / 25 / 20 m/min (984 / 984 / 787 ipm) rapids

Limitations

  • Maximum tool diameter is listed as Ø16 mm (Ø0.6 in), which rules out face mills and larger cutters
  • 16-tool magazine, with tools up to 3 kg (6.6 lb)
  • Table load is 400 kg (882 lb) and Z travel 350 mm (13.8 in)
  • HSK-E40 is the only spindle taper listed; the BT-30 option of the Hwacheon Hi-M G1 is not shown

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How does the Hi-M760 differ from the Hi-M G1?

Same travels, table and 24,000 rpm HSK-E40 spindle, but the Hi-M760 spindle is rated 11.2 kW (15.0 hp) and water cooled, where the Hwacheon Hi-M G1 has 9.5 kW (12.7 hp) and an oil-cooled jacket. The Hi-M760 also needs less power, 30 kVA against 35 kVA for the Hwacheon Hi-M G1, and weighs 4,760 kg (10,494 lb).

02 What control does the Hi-M760 use?

SIEMENS-828D as standard, with FANUC 0i-MF available as an option. If your programmers and post-processors are set up for one of the two, specify it at order, since the control also decides the operator interface on the shop floor.

03 What size tools fit the Hi-M760?

The magazine holds 16 tools, selected by fixed address. The table lists a maximum tool diameter of Ø16 mm (Ø0.6 in), a maximum length of 200 mm (7.9 in) and a maximum weight of 3 kg (6.6 lb). Check the diameter limit with Hwacheon if you plan to run larger cutters.

04 What does the Hi-M760 need on site?

A 30 kVA electrical supply and 6-7 kgf/cm² of air. The machine occupies 2,115 x 2,333 mm (83.3 x 91.9 in), stands 2,500 ~ 2,730 mm (98.4 ~ 107.5 in) high and weighs 4,760 kg (10,494 lb).
