How much does the Fehlmann VERSA 643 linear cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Fehlmann VERSA 643 linear that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Fehlmann VERSA 643 linear is a 3-axis portal machining center with a fixed table: 350 x 500 x 320 mm of travel (13.8 x 19.7 x 12.6 in) over a clamping surface of 620 x 500 mm that carries up to 400 kg (882 lb). In Fehlmann's own words it is the 3-axis version, with a plain table instead of the integrated tilting rotary table.
Look at the table against the travel before planning a job. The clamping surface is 620 mm long and X travel is 350 mm, so the spindle does not cover the whole table in one clamping. Fehlmann presents the extra surface as room for multiple clamping devices, which is the right way to read it: several small setups side by side, not one long part.
Speed is the point of this machine. The feed rate / rapid feed row reads 1-50,000 mm/min and the maker credits the linear drives with high acceleration and dynamics. Two spindles are listed at S6 (40% ED), 50 - 30,000 rpm with 13.7 kW (18.4 hp) and 50 - 42,000 rpm with 16.9 kW (22.7 hp). With 80 - 400 mm between table and spindle nose and 320 mm of Z, a tall vice plus a long tool uses up the stroke quickly.
A 50-tool chain magazine is the basic version and 86 tools the upgrade. Installation needs 1.99 m of width and 2.46 m of depth, and the machine weighs 7,500 kg (16,534 lb). The control is a Heidenhain TNC7. Through-spindle high-pressure coolant with chip conveyor, tool and part measuring, minimum-quantity lubrication and a zero-point clamping system are all named as options.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 620 x 500 mm (24.4 x 19.7 in) clamping surface with a permissible table load of 400 kg (882 lb)
- Linear drives and a feed rate / rapid feed row up to 50,000 mm/min (1,969 ipm)
- Spindles of 50 - 30,000 rpm with 13.7 kW (18.4 hp) or 50 - 42,000 rpm with 16.9 kW (22.7 hp)
- 50-tool chain magazine in the basic version, upgradable to 86 tools
- Compact installation: 1.99 m wide and 2.46 m deep
Limitations
- X travel of 350 mm (13.8 in) is short against the 620 mm table length
- Table load stops at 400 kg (882 lb); the VERSA 743 carries 800 kg
- Z travel is 320 mm (12.6 in) and the table-to-spindle-nose distance 80 - 400 mm, so tall setups are tight
- Neither listed spindle exceeds 16.9 kW (22.7 hp)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The table. The VERSA 643 linear has a fixed 620 x 500 mm clamping surface for up to 400 kg and three axes. The VERSA 645 linear has an integrated tilting rotary table with an A axis of 255° and takes 5-axis workpieces of 350 mm diameter and 330 mm height. Travels, spindles and weight are listed the same.
02
The maximum permissible table load is 400 kg (882 lb) on a clamping surface of 620 x 500 mm. Count the vices or zero-point system and the fixtures into that figure, not only the workpiece. If the job is heavier, the VERSA 743 is rated for 800 kg.
03
The table lists a spindle from 50 - 30,000 rpm rated 13.7 kW (18.4 hp) and one from 50 - 42,000 rpm rated 16.9 kW (22.7 hp), both at S6 (40% ED). No torque figure is given. Both are high-speed spindles, so the machine suits small cutters better than large face mills.
04
Fehlmann says yes: the right side of the machine remains accessible, so standardized or customized robot automation can be retrofitted at any time, and the machine can be combined with a FEHLMANN VERSA 825 automation system. Loading by hand stays possible from the front, and by crane through the door that extends into the roof.
05
The dimensions are given as 1.99 / 2.46 / 2.9 m for width, depth and height, and the weight as 7,500 kg (16,534 lb). The machine base is gray cast iron on a three-point support system, which simplifies levelling but still calls for a floor that can take the load.
