How much does the HNK HIB-16 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the HNK HIB-16 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The HNK HIB-16 widens the HIB high-speed boring mill without making it taller. X travel is 2,000 mm (78.7 in) and the rotary table 1,400 x 1,600 mm (55.1 x 63.0 in), while Y stays at the 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of the HIB-12. Z is 1,300 mm (51.2 in).
Table load rises only from 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) on the HIB-12 to 6,500 kg (14,330 lb) here. That is a small gain for a table this much larger, and it tells you the HIB-16 is for wide, relatively light die work: bumper and dashboard molds, long inserts, large electrode blanks. A heavy steel mold base that fills the table may exceed the rating, in which case the HIB-18 at 12,000 kg (26,455 lb) is the safer choice.
The spindle specification is common to the series, a range of 50 to 12,000 rpm on a spindle listed as Ø200. HNK states that the 12,000 rpm spindle is standard and that the machines feed at up to 12,000 mm/min (472 ipm) on linear motion guides. The W-axis has 400 mm (15.7 in) of travel.
Indexing of the rotary table is 0.001°, with a locating pin at every 90 position, so all four sides of a mold block can be finished in one clamping. Controls offered are Fanuc 31i-B and Siemens 840D.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of X travel with a 1,400 x 1,600 mm (55.1 x 63.0 in) table
- 50 to 12,000 rpm spindle range
- Feed up to 12,000 mm/min (472 ipm), per HNK's series description
- Four-side machining with 0.001° table indexing
Limitations
- 6,500 kg (14,330 lb) table load is modest for the table size
- Y travel of 1,500 mm (59.1 in) is unchanged from the HIB-12
- No spindle power or taper in the published table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The HIB-16 has 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of X, 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of Z, a 1,400 x 1,600 mm (55.1 x 63.0 in) table and 6,500 kg (14,330 lb) of load. The HIB-12 has 1,600 mm (63.0 in), 1,200 mm (47.2 in), a 1,150 x 1,250 mm (45.3 x 49.2 in) table and 5,000 kg (11,023 lb). Y, W and spindle are the same.
02
6,500 kg (14,330 lb) on the table, including clamps and risers. If the mold is heavier, the HIB-18 is rated at 12,000 kg (26,455 lb) and the HIB-22 at 15,000 kg (33,069 lb).
03
HNK's description of the series says it can feed up to 12,000 mm/min (472 ipm) on linear motion guides. The specification table has no separate rapid traverse or cutting feed rows, so that sentence is the only feed figure published.
04
Yes. The W-axis, labelled spindle axial, has 400 mm (15.7 in) of travel on every HIB model, in addition to the 1,300 mm (51.2 in) column cross travel in Z.
