How much does the HNK HIB-18 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the HNK HIB-18 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Table load nearly doubles at the HNK HIB-18. This high-speed horizontal boring and milling machine carries 12,000 kg (26,455 lb) on a 1,600 x 1,800 mm (63.0 x 70.9 in) rotary table, against 6,500 kg (14,330 lb) on the HIB-16, and both X and Y grow: 3,000 mm (118.1 in) and 2,000 mm (78.7 in).
Those are the travels and the table of HNK's HB-130 boring mill, which also takes 12,000 kg. The HIB-18 can be read as that size of machine rebuilt for speed, with a 50 to 12,000 rpm spindle in place of 5 to 2,500 rpm on the HB-130. What it gives up is quill travel. The W-axis is 400 mm (15.7 in) here.
For a toolroom this is the size at which full steel mold bases for large injection and die-casting tools become practical on a HIB. The series description from HNK names the die and mold industry as its purpose, a standard 12,000 rpm spindle, linear motion guides and feed up to 12,000 mm/min (472 ipm).
Z travel is 1,300 mm (51.2 in), the same as on the HIB-16, so the extra capacity is in width and height, not in depth. Table indexing is 0.001° with pin location at each 90 position. The spindle diameter is given as Ø200. Controls: Fanuc 31i-B, Siemens 840D.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 12,000 kg (26,455 lb) table load
- 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X and 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of Y
- 50 to 12,000 rpm spindle on a boring-mill layout
- 1,600 x 1,800 mm (63.0 x 70.9 in) rotary table with 0.001° indexing
Limitations
- Z travel of 1,300 mm (51.2 in) is no more than on the HIB-16
- W-axis of 400 mm (15.7 in), short for a machine with these travels
- Spindle power and tool interface are not published

Frequently Asked Questions
01
HNK does not say so, but the tables line up: both list 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X, 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of Y, 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of Z and a 1,600 x 1,800 mm (63.0 x 70.9 in) table for 12,000 kg (26,455 lb). The HIB-18 runs 50 to 12,000 rpm; the HB-130 runs 5 to 2,500 rpm with a 700 mm (27.6 in) W-axis.
02
12,000 kg (26,455 lb). The step from the HIB-16, at 6,500 kg (14,330 lb), is the largest in the series, which makes this the first HIB suited to heavy steel mold bases.
03
X 3,000 mm (118.1 in), Y 2,000 mm (78.7 in), Z 1,300 mm (51.2 in) and W 400 mm (15.7 in). The HIB-22 has the same X and Y with 1,600 mm (63.0 in) of Z.

The control row lists Fanuc 31i-B and Siemens 840D. The page does not mention high-speed machining functions or look-ahead options for either control, so those should be specified when ordering for mold finishing.
