Overview

The HNK HKDB-130F(1Mx16M) stretches the column-moving duplex boring machine to a 1,000 x 16,000 mm (39.4 x 629.9 in) fixed table, with 16,000 mm (629.9 in) of X travel for its two spindle columns.

HNK explains the purpose of the long stroke in its series description: set-up time is minimized by extending the X-axis stroke over a fixed table. In practice a sixteen-metre table is rarely filled by one part. It is divided into stations. While the columns machine a part at one end, the crane unloads and reloads the other end, and because the two columns can travel simultaneously or independently, they can also split up and work two stations at once.

That is pendulum machining, and it is what separates this model from the HKDB-130F(1Mx5M), which shares its 1,000 mm table width, 550 mm (21.7 in) Z travel and 200 to 1,300 mm (7.9 to 51.2 in) spindle gap. The longer machine also lists 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of Y travel as its stated figure, with the spindle centre from 0 to 2,000 mm (0.0 to 78.7 in) above the table top.

Table load is 20,000 kg (44,092 lb). Each column carries a Ø130 mm (5.1 in) spindle on an ISO No.50 taper, running 5 to 2,500 rpm with 22/26 kW (29.5/34.9 hp), cont/30min. Fanuc 31i-B and Siemens 840D are the listed controls.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 16,000 mm (629.9 in) of X travel over a fixed table
  • Columns travel simultaneously or independently, allowing two work stations
  • 2,000 mm (78.7 in) of Y travel from table level
  • 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) table load

Limitations

  • Table width of 1,000 mm (39.4 in) is the narrowest in the series
  • Spindle gap limited to 1,300 mm (51.2 in)
  • 20,000 kg (44,092 lb) applies to the whole 16,000 mm table
06

Best For

Pendulum machining of repeated parts along a long table Very long, narrow members up to 16,000 mm (629.9 in) Reducing set-up time by loading one station while another is cut

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Why would I need 16,000 mm of travel on the HKDB-130F(1Mx16M)?

Either for a single very long part, or to set up several parts along the fixed table. HNK says the extended X-axis stroke minimizes set-up time, and the two columns can travel independently, so one end can be reloaded while the other is machined.

02 How does it differ from the HKDB-130F(1.1Mx16M)?

In width. The HKDB-130F(1.1Mx16M) has a 1,100 x 16,000 mm (43.3 x 629.9 in) table, 600 mm (23.6 in) of Z and a spindle gap up to 1,400 mm (55.1 in). The HKDB-130F(1Mx16M) has a 1,000 mm wide table, 550 mm (21.7 in) of Z and a gap up to 1,300 mm (51.2 in).

03 What spindles are on the HKDB-130F(1Mx16M)?

Two spindle heads, each with a Ø130 mm (5.1 in) spindle, ISO No.50 nose taper, a 5 to 2,500 rpm range and a 22/26 kW (29.5/34.9 hp) drive motor.

04 What is the lowest bore height on the HKDB-130F(1Mx16M)?

The distance between table top and spindle centre is given as 0 to 2,000 mm (0.0 to 78.7 in), so the spindle centre can come down to the level of the table top. It is a starred row and can be changed to order.
