Hartford TGV-106 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Hartford TGV-106 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Hartford or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Hartford TGV-106 is a high-speed machining center with a fixed-column, wall-type structure: the table moves in one axis only and the head travels on a crossbeam. Travels are 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in X, 600 mm (23.6 in) in Y and 510 mm (20.1 in) in Z, on a #40 spindle.

The layout matters for mould work. Hartford describes a one-piece column and crossbeam, a wall type casting with a column supporter, on a one-piece base. Because the saddle does not stack on a moving table, the 1,150 x 600 mm (45.3 x 23.6 in) table can take 1,000 kg (2,205 lb), more than the 700 kg (1,543 lb) of the similarly sized MVP-10.

Spindle choices are a DDS unit at 12,000 / 15,000 rpm or a built-in motor spindle at 15,000 / 24,000 rpm. The 24,000 rpm built-in spindle is offered with a cooling shaft as an option, and Hartford describes a heat-symmetric design with oil-air lubrication. Motor power is given as 15 / 18.5 (40 % ED), optionally 18.5 / 21.5 (S6 - 60 %) kW, which is a strong rating for a 40-taper finishing machine.

Thermal control is the other theme of the TGV pages. Thermal growth control on the three axes is an option: motor bases, ballscrews, bearings and nuts carry cooling tunnels. Tooling is BT40, with BBT, CAT, DIN and HSK A63 as alternatives, in a 24-tool magazine or a 30-tool one.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Built-in spindle option at 15,000 / 24,000 rpm, with a shaft-cooled 24,000 rpm version listed as an option
  • Spindle motor of 15 / 18.5 (40 % ED), optionally 18.5 / 21.5 (S6 - 60 %) kW
  • One-piece column and crossbeam in a wall-type casting on a one-piece base
  • Table load of 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) on a 1,150 x 600 mm (45.3 x 23.6 in) table
  • Optional thermal growth control with cooling tunnels in the 3-axis feed system

Limitations

  • Z travel is 510 mm (20.1 in), the shortest of the TGV machines
  • No pulley or gear spindle is listed; the lowest top speed offered is 12,000 rpm
  • Shaft cooling and 3-axis thermal growth control are options, not base equipment
  • The magazine is limited to 24 or 30 tools; the TGV-128 can take 40

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What kind of machine is the Hartford TGV-106?

Hartford lists it as a high speed machining center. It has a one-piece column and crossbeam in a wall-type casting, a #40 spindle and travels of 1,000 mm (39.4 in), 600 mm (23.6 in) and 510 mm (20.1 in) in X, Y and Z.

02 Which spindles are available on the TGV-106?

A DDS direct-drive spindle at 12,000 / 15,000 rpm and a built-in spindle at 15,000 / 24,000 rpm. Hartford offers a cooling shaft for the 24,000 rpm built-in spindle as an option. The motor row reads 15 / 18.5 (40 % ED) opt. 18.5 / 21.5 (S6 - 60 %) kW.

03 How does the TGV-106 control heat?

The spindle is oil-air lubricated and built to a heat-symmetric design. As an option, Hartford offers thermal growth control on three axes, with cooling tunnels in the motor base, ballscrews, bearings and nuts; the maker says this raises axis accuracy by 15%. It also states that casting thermal growth can be reduced by 13%.

04 What is the next larger TGV model?

The TGV-128, with 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of X, 800 mm (31.5 in) of Y and 700 mm (27.6 in) of Z. The TGV-128 table is 1,300 x 850 mm (51.2 x 33.5 in) and carries 2,500 kg (5,511 lb), and the TGV-128 magazine is listed as A: 24 (30 / 40).
