Overview

Hartford's HSA-832 is an eight-metre double-column machining center with 3,200 mm (126.0 in) of Y travel. The table is 8,000 x 2,500 mm (315.0 x 98.4 in), X travel is 8,000 mm (315.0 in), and the table load is 27,000 kg (59,524 lb).

Table and load are those of the HSA-828; the gantry is wider, with 3,200 mm of Y against 2,800 mm (110.2 in) for the HSA-828. On a long machine that extra width is often used for setup access as much as for cutting. With the spindle parked beyond the table edge, a crane can lower a part without the head in the way, and an operator can walk the length of the table beside the bridge.

It also gives a right-angle head somewhere to stand when it works down the long side of a beam or frame. Hartford does not describe automatic head change on the HSA; manual or semi-automatic angle heads are the usual route on a fixed-beam machine, and the automatic versions in Hartford's range are the HSA-EA models.

The #50 spindle comes as gear head (6,000 / 8,000 rpm), DDS (10,000 / 12,000 rpm) or built-in (12,000 rpm), with motors from 15 / 18.5 kW to 30 /37 kW. Z travel: 780 mm, or 1,000 mm or 1,200 mm. Magazine: 32, 40 or 60 tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the difference between the Hartford HSA-832 and HSA-828?

Y travel. The HSA-832 has 3,200 mm (126.0 in) and the HSA-828 has 2,800 mm (110.2 in). Both have an 8,000 x 2,500 mm (315.0 x 98.4 in) table rated for 27,000 kg (59,524 lb).

02 What are the travels of the HSA-832?

X 8,000 mm (315.0 in), Y 3,200 mm (126.0 in) and Z 780 mm, with 1,000 mm and 1,200 mm as options. The table measures 8,000 x 2,500 mm (315.0 x 98.4 in).

03 What spindle does the HSA-832 use?

A #50 spindle with BT-50 shanks, as a gear head at 6,000 / 8,000 rpm, a DDS spindle at 10,000 / 12,000 rpm or a built-in spindle at 12,000 rpm.

04 Does the HSA-832 have supported ballscrews?

On X, yes: Hartford states X axis ballscrew support is standard above 5 meters. For Y, the maker names the x36 series as standard and the x23/x27/x28 series as optional, and does not mention x32, so the point should be confirmed.
