Overview

With 2,600 mm (102.4 in) of Y travel on a three-metre bed, the Hartford SW-326 is the short, wide member of the SW box-guideway double-column line. X travel is 3,000 mm (118.1 in). The table is 3,000 x 2,500 mm (118.1 x 98.4 in) and carries 12,000 kg (26,455 lb).

A nearly square table suits nearly square parts: large mould bases, round flanges and rings, press platens. On a longer machine such parts leave most of the table unused, and the floor space with it. Hartford's slant crossbeam and three box guideways per column carry the head across the full width.

The gear spindle steps down in speed at this size. The row reads #50 4,000 / 6,000 rpm, where the SW-323 lists 6,000 / 8,000 rpm. A lower top speed in a gear head goes with more torque at the cutter. For finishing there is the #50 DDS spindle at 10,000 / 12,000 rpm. The motor starts at 15/18.5 kW and has three options: 18.5/22 kW, 22/26 kW and 30/37 kW.

Z travel is 780 mm, or 1,070 mm as the option, in a square-guide ram that Hartford says cuts vibration. The arm-type magazine holds 32, 40 or 60 BT-50 tools.
