Overview

The Z axis of the Vision Wide MN-5026 / MN-5033 comes in three constructions, and its two rapid rates tell them apart. With the box way head or the linear way head, Z rapid is 15 m/min. With the enclosed box ram, it is 12 m/min.

The box way head is the standard one. It runs on a single ballscrew with 920 mm of travel, or 1,020 mm as an option. The linear way head and the enclosed box ram both use dual ballscrews, and both are listed with Z travels of 1,000 mm, 1,200 mm or 1,400 mm, all optional. Of the three, the enclosed box ram is the heaviest section, a closed box around the ram that resists the side loads of an angle head at full extension, and its lower rapid reflects that mass.

For a five-face milling machine the choice follows the part. Low, heavy parts milled mostly from above: box way. Tall parts machined down their sides with an attachment: enclosed box ram and a long stroke.

The table is 5,000×2,450 mm (196.9×96.5 in) and holds 20,000 kg (44,092 lb). X travel is 5,100 mm (200.8 in), with 12.5 m/min of X/Y rapid. Y is 2,600 mm (102.4 in) on the MN-5026 and 3,300 mm (129.9 in) on the MN-5033.
