Brother SPEEDIO R650X1N

The SPEEDIO R650X1N is the larger of Brother's two-pallet R machines: 650 x 400 x 305 mm (25.6 x 15.7 x 12.0 in) of travel, an automatic 2-pallet QT Table rated 200 kg per face (441 lb), and a BT30 spindle of 10,000 rpm rated 7.5 kW (10 hp), with a 16,000 rpm option.

Each pallet gets a much larger reach than on the SPEEDIO R450X1N: 650 mm of X against 450 mm (17.7 in), and 400 mm of Y against 320 mm (12.6 in), on the same 305 mm (12.0 in) of Z. In practice that means a fixture with more parts per pallet, or a longer part that would not fit the smaller machine. Every extra part clamped on a pallet spreads the swap time over more pieces, which is how a pallet machine of this kind earns back its floor space.

The 200 kg per face rating is the figure to design around. A steel fixture plate, several vises and a load of steel blanks add up quickly, and the limit applies to each face on its own, so both pallets need to stay inside it. For aluminium parts on light fixtures there is a good margin.

The spindle is rated 7.5 kW (10 hp), against 5.5 kW (7.4 hp) on the SPEEDIO S500X1N. For a 30-taper machine that is enough for steady face milling and drilling in steel with moderate tools, while the 16,000 rpm option suits small cutters in aluminium. BIG-PLUS dual-contact tooling is an option on the BT30 taper.

Tools sit in a 14 or 22-position turret. Rapids are 50 m/min (1,969 ipm) on all three axes. The control is Brother's CNC-C00 and the supply is 200/220V, 3-phase. The table data for this model gives no footprint or weight, so get both from Brother before planning the installation.
