Hartford LG-800 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Hartford LG-800 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Hartford or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Hartford's LG-800 sits between the compact LG-500 and the one-metre LG-1000: a linear-guideway vertical machining center with a #40 spindle nose, 800 mm (31.5 in) of X travel and a 950 x 510 mm (37.4 x 20.1 in) table.

What it shares with the LG-1000 is nearly everything except length. Y travel is 510 mm (20.1 in) and Z is 630 mm (24.8 in) on both. Both list the same pulley spindle speeds, 8,000 / 10,000 / 12,000 rpm, the same DDS speeds, 10,000 / 12,000 / 15,000 rpm, and the same motor row, 5.5 / 7.5 / 11 kW (Cont. / 30 min). The shorter table is rated for less weight: 500 kg (1,102 lb) average load against 700 kg (1,543 lb) on the LG-1000.

Compared with the LG-500 the step is larger. Against the 450 mm (17.7 in) of the LG-500, Z grows to 630 mm (24.8 in), which matters for tall fixtures, rotary tables and long drills, and the magazine can be ordered with 30 tools instead of the standard 24.

Hartford's description of the frame covers a one-piece bed and an oversize column whose interface with the base has been widened for stability. Columns lean backwards to bring the centre of gravity forward, which the maker credits with better Y-axis rigidity and vibration resistance. Ballscrews are driven by directly coupled servo motors. Tool shanks are BT40, with BBT, CAT and DIN listed in brackets.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 630 mm (24.8 in) of Z travel on an 800 mm (31.5 in) machine, the same Z as the LG-1000
  • Choice of pulley spindle (8,000 / 10,000 / 12,000 rpm) or DDS direct-drive spindle (10,000 / 12,000 / 15,000 rpm)
  • Arm-type tool magazine with 24 tools, or 30 as the listed alternative
  • One-piece bed and oversize column, as described by Hartford for this model
  • Dual contact between taper and flange, which Hartford says can raise rigidity up to 30%

Limitations

  • Average table load of 500 kg (1,102 lb), against 700 kg (1,543 lb) on the LG-1000
  • Only three T-slots, 18 x 160 (3) mm, across a 510 mm deep table
  • Hartford's page for the LG-800 does not state a rapid traverse rate, a torque figure or the machine weight
  • No #50 spindle is offered in the LG line; heavier cutting is the job of Hartford's box-way models
06

Best For

Job-shop milling of mid-size parts in a single vise or double-vise setup Tall setups that need 630 mm (24.8 in) of Z without paying for a longer bed High-speed finishing with the 15,000 rpm DDS option Work that stays inside a 500 kg (1,102 lb) table load

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How big is the working envelope of the Hartford LG-800?

The axes travel 800 mm (31.5 in) in X, 510 mm (20.1 in) in Y and 630 mm (24.8 in) in Z. The table is 950 x 510 mm (37.4 x 20.1 in), so it overhangs the X stroke slightly and matches the Y stroke exactly.

02 Is the LG-800 spindle belt-driven or direct-drive?

Either, depending on the order. Hartford lists a pulley spindle at 8,000 / 10,000 / 12,000 rpm and a DDS direct-drive spindle at 10,000 / 12,000 / 15,000 rpm, both on a #40 nose. The motor row shows 5.5 / 7.5 / 11 kW (Cont. / 30 min).

03 How many tools does the LG-800 carry?

The ATC row reads A:24 / 30 pcs: an arm-type changer with 24 pockets, or 30. The shank is BT40, and Hartford lists BBT, CAT and DIN as alternatives. Maximum tool diameter, length and weight are not given on the product page.

04 Should I choose the LG-800 or the LG-500?

The LG-500 is a much smaller machine: 520 mm (20.5 in) of X, 420 mm (16.5 in) of Y, 450 mm (17.7 in) of Z and a 300 kg (661 lb) table load, with a 5.5 / 7.5 kW (Cont. / 30 min) motor row. The LG-800 gives more travel in every axis, a 500 kg (1,102 lb) table and the 11 kW motor step.
