Goodway GTS-200 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Goodway GTS-200 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Goodway or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

With 8 in chucks, 11 kW (14.8 hp) continuous on each spindle and a box-way bed, the Goodway GTS-200 is the heavier-cutting size of the GTS twin-spindle, twin-turret family. Bar capacity is Ø51 mm (2.0 in) and each spindle runs to 4,800 rpm.

Power doubles compared with the GTS-150. Each motor is rated 15 kW (20.1 hp) on the 30 min. rating, and Goodway states that the GTS-200 series has a high-rigidity box-way design. Together those two facts move the machine from light bar work toward forgings and castings that need a real roughing cut on both sides.

The swing grows to Ø280 mm (11.0 in) and turning length to 200 mm (7.9 in). X travel is 190 mm (7.5 in). Z1 travel is 270 mm (10.6 in) and Z2 travel 740 mm (29.1 in), the second figure covering the transfer stroke between the opposed spindles. The bed is a one-piece casting inclined at 45°.

Two 12-station servo turrets are standard in the X variation. Live tooling at 4,000 rpm can be fitted to one turret (MX) or both (MMX). In the XY variation both turrets also get a Y-axis with 120 mm (4.7 in) of travel, ±60 mm, so off-center features can be milled on the front and the back of a part in the same cycle. When Ø51 mm bar is not enough, the GTS-260 offers Ø65 mm (2.6 in) on the same travels.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 11 kW (14.8 hp) continuous and 15 kW (20.1 hp) 30 min. on each of two spindles
  • Box-way design, as Goodway states for the GTS-200 series
  • Twin Y axes with 120 mm (4.7 in) of travel in the XY variation
  • Z2 travel of 740 mm (29.1 in) for part transfer between the spindles

Limitations

  • Turning length is 200 mm (7.9 in), so only short parts fit
  • Spindle speed is 4,800 rpm, below the 6,000 rpm of the GTS-150
  • X travel is 190 mm (7.5 in)
  • Live tooling stops at 4,000 rpm and is optional
06

Best For

Chucked forgings and castings machined on both sides in one cycle Bar work up to Ø51 mm (2.0 in) Automotive parts needing off-center milling front and back

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How much power does each spindle of the GTS-200 have?

11 kW (14.8 hp) continuous and 15 kW (20.1 hp) on the 30 min. rating, at up to 4,800 rpm. Spindle 1 and spindle 2 share the same specification, with 8 in chucks and Ø51 mm (2.0 in) bar capacity.

02 What size parts suit the GTS-200?

Short ones. Maximum turning length is 200 mm (7.9 in) and swing diameter Ø280 mm (11.0 in). X-axis travel is 190 mm (7.5 in) and Z1-axis travel 270 mm (10.6 in).

03 Does the GTS-200 have a Y-axis on both turrets?

In the XY variation, yes. Each turret gets a Y-axis with 120 mm (4.7 in) of travel, ±60 mm from center, along with live tooling. Goodway describes this as a twin Y axes control function for off-center milling, drilling and tapping.

04 What is the difference between the GTS-200 and GTS-260?

Chuck, bar and speed. The GTS-200 has 8 in chucks, Ø51 mm (2.0 in) bar capacity and 4,800 rpm. The GTS-260 has 10 in chucks, Ø65 mm (2.6 in) bar capacity and 4,000 rpm. Motors and travels are the same in the table.
