Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Goodway GA-3600 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With a 15 in chuck and Ø105 mm (4.1 in) of bar capacity, the Goodway GA-3600 is the largest-bore machine in the GA box-way range. Spindle speed tops out at 2,500 rpm, the lowest in the series, which is the usual exchange for a spindle that swallows stock this size.
It shares its casting with the GA-3300. Both swing Ø600 mm (23.6 in), turn Ø500 mm (19.7 in), move 260 mm (10.2 in) in X and use an 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) continuous motor that delivers 22 kW (29.5 hp) for 30 min. What the bigger chuck costs is length: the GA-3600 turns 595 mm (23.4 in), 895 mm (35.2 in) or 1,195 mm (47.0 in) between the chuck and the center, a little less than the GA-3300 on each bed. Z-axis travel is 630 mm (24.8 in), 930 mm (36.6 in) or 1,230 mm (48.4 in).
Pipe couplings, flanges and thick-walled tube are the kind of work these figures point to. A Ø105 mm (4.1 in) bar capacity at 2,500 rpm is slow for small bar but well matched to large stock, where surface speed comes from diameter.
Support for long parts comes from a programmable tailstock with a Ø110 mm (4.3 in) quill, 150 mm (5.9 in) of quill travel and an MT#5 live center or MT#4 dead center, and Goodway lists a self-centering steady rest for the series. Tooling is a 10 or 12-station servo turret. Driven tools need the optional 12-station ER32 live tooling turret.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Ø105 mm (4.1 in) bar capacity through a 15 in chuck, the largest in the GA series
- 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) continuous and 22 kW (29.5 hp) 30 min. motor on a box-way bed
- Ø110 mm (4.3 in) tailstock quill with 150 mm (5.9 in) of travel
- Goodway lists a self-centering steady rest and programmable tailstock for the series
Limitations
- 2,500 rpm maximum spindle speed, the lowest in the GA series
- Turning length is shorter than on the GA-3300 on every bed, 1,195 mm (47.0 in) at most
- Turning diameter is no larger than the GA-3300 at Ø500 mm (19.7 in)
- Milling needs the optional live tooling turret, limited to 4,000 rpm

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Goodway lists a bar capacity of Ø105 mm (4.1 in) with a 15 in chuck. The GA-3300 on the same frame passes Ø90 mm (3.5 in) with a 12 in chuck.
02
2,500 rpm. The motor is rated 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) continuous and 22 kW (29.5 hp) on the 30 min. rating. For comparison, the GA-3300 uses the same motor and runs to 3,000 rpm.
03
595 mm (23.4 in), 895 mm (35.2 in) or 1,195 mm (47.0 in), depending on which of the three beds is ordered. Z-axis travel on those beds is 630 mm (24.8 in), 930 mm (36.6 in) and 1,230 mm (48.4 in).
04
A servo-indexing turret with 10 or 12 stations is the base equipment. A 12-station live tooling turret with ER32 collets and a 40 ~ 4,000 rpm range is optional, and Goodway states that only the tool in the working position rotates.
