Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Goodway GS-6600 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Goodway lists the GS-6600 with two bores. One version has a 20 in chuck and Ø175 mm (6.9 in) of bar capacity; the other has a 22 in chuck and Ø205 mm (8.1 in). Both carry the GS-6600 name and share one set of speeds, 550 rpm in low range and 1,100 rpm in high.
The chucks differ in more than size. In the table the 20 in chuck is noted as an optional hydraulic chuck and the 22 in as an optional air chuck. Air chucks are common on big-bore lathes because they clamp from both ends of the spindle, which is how long pipe is held. Check which chuck, if any, is in the quoted price.
Underneath is the GS-6000 series machine: a 45° true slant bed with over-sized box ways, a 30 kW (40.2 hp) continuous and 37 kW (49.6 hp) 30 min. motor, and a 2-step gearbox. Capacity is Ø880 mm (34.6 in) of turning diameter under a Ø930 mm (36.6 in) swing. Turning length is 1,020 mm (40.2 in), 2,000 mm (78.7 in) or 3,300 mm (129.9 in).
Against the GS-6000 this model gives up top speed, since that machine reaches 2,000 rpm, in return for a bore large enough for casing and heavy tube. Tailstock quill diameters of Ø110 mm (4.3 in), Ø160 mm (6.3 in) and Ø120 mm (4.7 in) are listed for the series, with centers from MT#4 to MT#6, so the tailstock specification also needs to be settled at order.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Two bore sizes under one model: Ø175 mm (6.9 in) or Ø205 mm (8.1 in)
- 30 kW (40.2 hp) continuous, 37 kW (49.6 hp) 30 min. motor with a 2-step gearbox
- Ø880 mm (34.6 in) turning diameter and up to 3,300 mm (129.9 in) of turning length
- 12-station servo turret with an extra-large disk, per Goodway
Limitations
- High range is limited to 1,100 rpm
- Hydraulic and air chucks are listed as options
- The table gives several tailstock quill sizes without saying which belongs to which bed
- The only variation is M; no Y-axis or sub-spindle

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Goodway's table has two columns under the GS-6600 name. One pairs a 20 in chuck with Ø175 mm (6.9 in) bar capacity, the other a 22 in chuck with Ø205 mm (8.1 in). Speeds, motor and travels are the same for both.
02
550 rpm in the low gear range and 1,100 rpm in the high range. The motor is rated 30 kW (40.2 hp) continuous and 37 kW (49.6 hp) on the 30 min. rating, driving through a 2-step gearbox.
03
X-axis travel is 500 mm (19.7 in), or 520 mm (20.5 in) with the live tooling turret. Z-axis travel is 1,050 mm (41.3 in), 2,020 mm (79.5 in) or 3,300 mm (129.9 in) across the three beds.
04
Yes, as the M variation with C-axis. The optional turret has 12 live stations with ER50 collets and runs 10 ~ 3,000 rpm. Goodway states the live tools are driven by a 9 kW motor and that only the tool in the working position rotates.
