Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Goodway GS-2000 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Goodway GS-2000 is the 8 in entry to the GS-2000 / GS-3000 series, Goodway's main line of box-way slant-bed turning centers. It pairs Ø65 mm (2.6 in) bar capacity and a 4,500 rpm spindle with a frame sized for much larger work: Ø570 mm (22.4 in) of turning diameter, 300 mm (11.8 in) of X travel and a Ø700 mm (27.6 in) swing.
Compared with the older-pattern GS-200, which also has an 8 in chuck and the same bore, this model is a bigger and stronger machine. The motor is rated 15 kW (20.1 hp) continuous and 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) for 30 min., and the standard bed already turns 780 mm (30.7 in). The L bed stretches turning length and Z travel to 1,530 mm (60.2 in).
Goodway sells the series in eight basic configurations, two bed lengths times four bar capacities, and lets the buyer choose a gear-driven, built-in or belt-driven spindle. The 12-station servo turret makes an opposing tool change in 0.8 seconds by the maker's figure. A programmable tailstock is part of the base table, with 120 mm (4.7 in) of quill travel and an MT#4 live or MT#3 dead center, and a servo tailstock is optional.
Options turn it into a multi-tasking lathe. The live tooling turret has 12 driven stations with ER32 collets at 5,000 rpm, the Y-axis travels ±50 mm (±2.0 in), and the sub-spindle carries a 6 in chuck with a 5.5 kW (7.4 hp) continuous rating at up to 6,000 rpm. With the Y-axis fitted, turning diameter is Ø400 mm (15.7 in).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Ø570 mm (22.4 in) turning diameter and 300 mm (11.8 in) of X travel on an 8 in machine
- 15 kW (20.1 hp) continuous, 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) 30 min. spindle motor at up to 4,500 rpm
- Choice of gear-driven, built-in or belt-driven spindle
- Programmable tailstock listed as standard; servo tailstock optional
- Turning length of 780 mm (30.7 in) or 1,530 mm (60.2 in)
Limitations
- Bar capacity is Ø65 mm (2.6 in), small for the size of the frame
- Live tooling, Y-axis and sub-spindle are all options
- The Y-axis reduces turning diameter to Ø400 mm (15.7 in)
- The optional sub-spindle is rated 5.5 kW (7.4 hp) continuous, far below the main spindle

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Both have an 8 in chuck, Ø65 mm (2.6 in) bar capacity and 4,500 rpm. The GS-2000 turns Ø570 mm (22.4 in) and its motor is rated 15 kW (20.1 hp) continuous. The GS-200 turns Ø420 mm (16.5 in) with an 11 kW (15 HP) continuous motor.
02
Goodway states that gear-driven, built-in or belt-driven spindles can be selected according to requirements, and describes the built-in type as a precision option and the geared type as a high torque option. The table lists 15 kW (20.1 hp) continuous and 18.5 kW (24.8 hp) for 30 min. at 4,500 rpm.
03
X-axis travel is 300 mm (11.8 in). Z-axis travel is 780 mm (30.7 in) on the standard bed and 1,530 mm (60.2 in) on the L bed, and the maximum turning length equals the Z travel in both cases. The optional Y-axis travels ±50 mm (±2.0 in).
04
A sub-spindle with a 6 in hydraulic chuck, rated 5.5 kW (7.4 hp) continuous and 7.5 kW (10.1 hp) for 30 min., with a top speed of 6,000 rpm. It is fitted in the S, MS and YS variations for back-end machining.
