Goodway GLS-200 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Goodway GLS-200 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Goodway or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

An 8 in chuck, Ø65 mm (2.6 in) through the spindle and 4,500 rpm: the Goodway GLS-200 is the larger-bore version of the GLS-150, built on the same linear-guideway slant bed.

The choice between the two comes down to stock size. Both machines have the same 11 kW (15 HP) continuous and 15 kW (20 HP) 30 min. motor, so the GLS-200 gives up top speed, not power, to gain bore. Shops running bar above Ø51 mm (2.0 in), the limit of the GLS-150, need this model. Shops running smaller stock get a higher surface speed from the 6,000 rpm GLS-150.

The working envelope is 210 mm (8.3 in) in X and 520 mm (20.5 in) in Z, with 500 mm (19.7 in) of turning length and a Ø500 mm (19.7 in) swing. Goodway does not print a usable maximum turning diameter for this model: the figure in its table carries a footnote mark with no footnote, so confirm it with the maker.

As delivered, the lathe is a two-axis machine with a 12 or 10-station servo turret. Goodway lists the tailstock as optional, with an MT#4 live center, a Ø70 mm (2.8 in) quill and 290 mm (11.4 in) of base travel. The M variation adds a 12-station live tooling turret (ER25, 10 ~ 4,000 rpm) and C-axis control so that cross holes and flats can be finished in the same setup.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Ø65 mm (2.6 in) bar capacity on the compact GLS-150 bed
  • 11 kW (15 HP) continuous and 15 kW (20 HP) 30 min. spindle motor
  • Two-speed motor-driven spindle, which Goodway aims at both heavy cutting and precision work
  • Live tooling turret and C-axis control are available as the M variation

Limitations

  • 4,500 rpm top speed, against 6,000 rpm on the GLS-150
  • Z travel is 520 mm (20.5 in) with a single bed length
  • Tailstock and live tooling are both options
  • The maximum turning diameter in Goodway's table refers to a footnote that the page does not print

Best For

Bar work that needs up to Ø65 mm (2.6 in) through the spindle 8 in chucking jobs within 500 mm (19.7 in) of turning length Two-axis production turning with an option path to live tooling

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What bar size can the GLS-200 handle?

Goodway lists a bar capacity of Ø65 mm (2.6 in) with an 8 in chuck. The GLS-150, which shares the bed and travels, is limited to Ø51 mm (2.0 in) with a 6 in chuck.

02 What are the axis travels of the GLS-200?

X-axis travel is 210 mm (8.3 in) and Z-axis travel 520 mm (20.5 in). Maximum turning length is 500 mm (19.7 in) and the swing diameter is Ø500 mm (19.7 in). Both axes run on linear guideways.

03 Is a Y-axis offered on the GLS-200?

No. The only variation Goodway lists for this model is M, with a live tooling turret and C-axis. In the GLS range, Y-axis and sub-spindle variations start with the GLS-1500 and GLS-2000, which Goodway lists with 105 mm (4.1 in) of optional Y travel.

04 How fast is the live tooling on the GLS-200?

The optional 12-station live tooling turret runs 10 ~ 4,000 rpm and takes ER25 collets. Goodway states that only the tool in the working position rotates and that the turret disk does not lift during indexing.
